Default where to buy the wiring harness

If anyone could supply a direct link to the correct wiring harness used to put an aftermarket cd player in the crossfire, I would be really happy. I know there are wiring harnesses on Crutchfield but I want to make sure I get the exact one. I plan on buying an Alpine cd player. Thanks guys.

Just call Crutchfield and ask them?

You can buy the one for the VW/Audi and switch the Red wire (+12VDC Constant) and the Yellow wire (+12VDC Ign Switched) around and make it work. Also, you may need powered antenna amplifier. Some say you don't need this but every Crossfire I've installed and aftermarket radio in has required on for same as stock reception.

Is it a specific Audi wiring harness? or is it a general wiring harness used for all Audis.

Another case in where you search.. you'll find your answers!

Harness : Receiver Wire Harness For select 1995-up Audi, Chrysler, Ford, Porsche, Saab, and Volkswagen models at Crutchfield.com

You'll need an antenna adapter : Antenna Adapter Euro female to Motorola male Works with a variety of 1999-up European and American vehicles at Crutchfield.com

And to remove the radio : Universal OEM DIN Radio Removal Tools at Crutchfield.com (I've read walmart has these cheaper in single key versions, like 4$.. you need the edge on the right pic, the top right one.. has a little notch in it, but it's not the longest one.

Are you purchasing the headunit from crutchfield? If it's over $130, they'll send you all the above for free.. quite a steal.

A note about the harness..
"When used in this vehicle, the functions of the yellow and red wires in the Crutchfield harness are reversed. The yellow wire supplies ignition power, and the Red wire supplies constant power."

Ignore anything else crutchfield says about bypassing the amp / running new speaker wire, it's incorrect

i have the one from crutchfield, the exact one they would send you, but it doesnt have the rca's on it. i dont know the model number for it, but the one i was told to get was the Metra 70-1786. that one has the rca's. im not using the one crutchfield gave me nor have i used it, due to the fact i bought a european version of a clarion, so it plugged right in. if you would like the harness, let me know, ill sell it very cheap to get rid of it. so to recap: the harness crutchfield sends you will bypass the amp, and the 1786 would use the amp.

haha, yeah that was screwy, sorry. here is the 1786
METRA 70-1786 amp integration harness 4 new stereo Land Rover 99-04/Mercedes Amp Integration Harness 91-99; Similar to 70-1784, features RCA plugs instead of speaker wires, 12V constant wire and accessory wire are reversed from the 70-1784 HARNESS;

the links above show the same thing, but without the rca's

i bought a european clarion head unit, and the connectors were the same as the crossfire's, so it simply plugged right in.

im not an expert installer, i was just learning, and unfortunately this one was "too easy".

but nevertheless, i have crutchfields harness, ill sell it for 15 shipped

Alright I know this is a dead thread, but if this works why are people using the custom wiring harness from crutchfield and changing around the wires and what not? Dumb question but this is the deck that Car Toys is recommending.....there has gotta be a catch.

I used the Scosche VW01B wiring harness and the Scosche VWA3B Radio Antenna Adapter both available on ebay.
