Base versus Limited head unit?

Default Base versus Limited head unit?
Are the head units the same other than the color of the *****? I know the Limited system is more powerful due to the external amp, but what about the head units themselves? Can the base unit be used in the Limited with no loss of sound?

In my opinion, the stock infinity head unit is typical OEM crap. It was one of the first changes I made to my XFire.
