Default Radar detector mount

Blendmount.com - Custom Radar Detector Mounts Escort Beltronics Valentine One

Hey found this from another website...
Worked great for me...way better then what came with my V1.

Took all of three minutes from box to installed to adjusted...looks way better...like it was an option on my truck.

No more suction cups!

Those are pretty cool. I haven't had a radar detector for years. Do the new detectors have lithium batteries or do you have to keep them plugged in all the time. As far as brands is Beltronics the gold standard?

Yes this is a great item ..... expensive ... (@$75), but great... I checked them
out recently this past December to use on my Bel, but I don't think they will fit on our stem for the mirror in the Crossfire.
The company specifically states not for Mercedes or Porches. Needs a 5/8 inch round stem. We don't have that. Check with company directly to be sure before ordering and get a guarantee that it will fit. Just my $.02

Cordless radar detectors do exist but as far as I know no company makes a cordless version of their "premium" detector - only mid-range models. Cordless detectors never really seem to have caught on - I suspect it's because having to remember to charge them every few days is almost as much of a pain as having to wire a fixed-power detector in.
Detectors also can't go down too much in power draw - superhetrodyne receivers have been a pretty well-explored technology for many years now, and if anything modern receivers will start drawing more power as they gain features like GPS and cell/Internet connectivity.

Beltronics/Escort detectors (they're actually the same parent company now, and share a lot of critical detector electronics - take apart a new high-end Escort and the radio board says Beltronics on it!) and the trusty old V1 are still regarded very highly. There are a few Cobra models that are supposedly acceptable now, but for the most part they are still garbage and I'd stay away from them.

There are a lot of detector review sites online - many are in the pockets of various detector manufacturers but if you sift few a through you can usually start to figure things out. Radartest.com was a good starting point for me as their articles are very well-written and their methods relatively sound, although as the author/owner is both a seller and a contractor for various manufacturers, I sometimes doubt his neutrality.

It's almost impossible to go wrong with a high-end Bel, Passport, or V1 - ultimately I think it mostly boils down to taste. V1 has the arrows, while Bel and Escort now have pretty cool GPS-based filtering abilities.

One thing to make note of is that police are increasingly switching to laser in many states. Laser is a little harder to set up a trap for as the police car needs to be stationary and the cop needs to be looking through the laser gun to aim it (and hence in view of and nearly perpendicular to the road), but it's virtually impossible to detect in time to avoid a ticket. Laser jammers are still legal in a few states, though, and are very effective. I'd do research on laser usage in your state before buying a detector system.

My mount works on 7/8 or 3/4 mirror stems.

Here's the response I got:
I have an 2005 SRT-6 Chrysler Crossfire roadster.
will your mount secure the V-1 in its proper place, as you advertise?
Thank you
shawn

Our response is:

Yes, as long as your rear view mirror has a Cylindrical Stem from 3/4" to 7/8" in diameter.
Thanks,
Frank.

Best Regards,

FlightMedic ... in your post #7, the company states that the mount will work if the stem is cylindrical and is 5/8" to 3/4". The key word here is "cylindrical". Check your stem out, I don't think it is cylindrical. This means that the blendmount will not fit snugly and the RD will shift in position. That's what they stated that Mercedes cars are not compatible. Just saying .....
I wish it would fit, seems like a Great item, especially, if you could wire it off a rear view mirror that has power to it.

Yea I figured that out.
I wasn't too impressed w/ the response, where he didn't bother finding out if it would work.
I wonder if another mirror, that will work & will attach to the xf mount
The RD does work fine attached to the worthless visor though...

I mount mine on the visor also, and just route the wire around the rear mirror stem, and down to the lighter receptacle. It would be great if this blendmount would work. If any one gets one and figures out how to attach it without replacing the OEM mirror stem ..... please post up your solution.

If someone wants to bring there car to my house we can try it out.
Takes more time too get out the long reach allen wrenches then to take it down or put it up.

Oh and they sell the wire to hook up to your mirror so you don't have cords anymore.

Soon as I modify my indash system( F-150 INSTALLATION)
I will have the wire only showing for about 4"-6"

I have a bunch of electric around my mirror so its gonna be easy to tap in.

I'll check mine tomorrow and see if I can come up with an 'adapter' sleeve or something for the mirror post.....

Obviously I have too much time on my hands to worry about such trivial pursuit. I am also way off topic so please forgive me but:

Why don't you have a "Senior Member" by your name? I'm about twenty four short of that and was looking forward to it.

Helping my folks clean out there house getting ready to sell and move to Texas...damn my folks have a lot of ****.
Oh you will like this just came back from KY, Looking at an ACTION 18.
Probably be next new toy as that hull will work for me against the rules in drag racing...with a hopped up 200 should put me in low 90's in 1000'.
Probably not gonna buy that one in KY as a friend of mine in Havasu is splashing the exact same boat and I can get it made my way so it will be lighter.Oh had to add been doing glass work...wife is pissed house smells like resin...need a detached garage on the next house.

Hello,
Ok im not looking for the best bang for the buck. I don't mind spending some big money but i want it to be for the top of the line. I think it would be a better investment than me dropping $350 at my lawyer every time I wanna put the gas to the floor. Tell me what you think I should get and why.

Thanks

I sent photos to the company. They contacted erme and have offered to send me a shorter version that wil bring it closer to the mirror and pull it back from the glass. Which will make it look more like one piece mirror/rd. They are paying shipping both ways. Seems like they are going out of there way for me to be even happier.
