Interesting unit for Apple iPhone users
The Parrot solutions are also very interesting.
But the benefit of the Oxygen unit is the you can play apps etc.
So you can use your navigation app on the iPhone showing directions while listening radio, or mp3...
Take a look at this video (sorry, don't know how to integrate it directly)

I wonder when they will start coming out with things like this for Android-based phones. Now that globally, Android has overtaken Apple in monthly sales. I forsee headunits for Android coming soon...and they can just plug into the micro-usb that is standard on all non-G1 android-based phones.
I think I need to start developing something. This would be awesome.

The problem is that Android phones range from 2.5" displays to 5" displays, so you can't make a "one size fits all" dock or even anything close to it. Plus a lot of popular Android phones are way bigger than single-DIN, whereas the iPhone is just a bit bigger and can be shoehorned in (as the product you link). And, even though most Android phones are microUSB, not all are, especially globally, and the USB port is in a totally different place on every single one. Plus you'd either have to plug into the headphone jack (another connector that's in different places on every Android phone, and not even present on some) or write an Android application that did audio over USB (hard and would require a bit more hardware and software on the radio side).
The iPhone makes things easy: all of the models are nearly the same size, there are only a few basic shapes (2 or 3, depending on if you count the now-outdated original iPhone) and the dock connector has both communication and audio and is in the same place on every phone. If you construct the dock connector so that it can latch onto devices of varying thickness, you can even support the iPod touch family with the same basic design.
Also, the iPhone understands the old serial iPod dock protocol, which lets you perform simple music playback tasks like volume control and track navigation without writing a custom iPhone app or licensing the (expensive) Apple Dock API.

Did some additional research on the Oxygen HU.
Release date was on the CES in Las Vegas, Nevada, January 6 – 9, 2011.
Distribution Date: Seems that the AM/FM version will be available in the U.S. in April 2011-

It's out, and can be purchased via the oxygen online store. Its 349 dollars and looks like a beauty. I'm considering purchasing it. Although I would be thoroughly disappointed to hear it drop in price soon.

Check out what is shop in So-cal is doing with the Apple Ipads.

This is the shop owners truck. They have two separate Youtube shows on this same channel that are a must watch for those of you interested in car audio. The guys working in the shop are always cracking jokes.
On their online store, they sell many pre-made Ipad templates and wiring accessories for the do-it-your-selfers.

My finger is hovering over the Buy Now button on the Parrot Asteroid. I really wish someone else already had it in their XFi so I know if it fits flush and looks descent considering it is black and not available in silver. Guess there is only one way to find out. Will post pictures if I do get it...
I installed the Oxygen Audio O Car in my 2006 roadster a week ago. It answered several needs:
Provides a secure holder for my iPhone.
Automatically charges the phone.
Allows access to my iTunes library.
Makes Pandora and other apps available.
Eliminates the need for a Bluetooth headset, GPS., cables, chargers, and lighter adapters.
Now I’ve got a whole lot more free storage space.
Oh, yeah, and it sounds great.
I’d be happy to elaborate if anybody’s interested.

As for the "issue" of the different sized Android phones - I for one am happy not to have my phone hidden behind the faceplate.
