Sony CDXGT550UI - speakers won't work

Hey guys!

I tried to install this stereo today! Got the harness, connected all the same colored wires and the antenna. It works, meaning it will turn on and I can search for channel but no sound from the speakers.
Any suggestions?

Thanks all!
Nick

on a second note. I didn't know where to plug in the amp cable and power antenna or if I even need any of that.

Re: Sony CDXGT550UI -- speakers won't work

I'm just going to respond to my own message haha. I finally got it to work. Sniffed around the forum and found a little hint - red/yellow wires are reversed plus I had to put the blue AMP cable into the harness, too.
Now it works and I'm real happy :) This forum is good news for every crossfire owner!

Just a question out of curiosity - How can I be sure I hooked everything up the right way and am getting the full benefit out of my sound system?
All speakers are working but I want to make sure full power flows to each of them. Any word of advise?

Yep. Do this:

And I replaced the door speakers with true Infinity 6.5" 2-ways. Much, much better. $50 if you shop around...

Thanks for all the info here.

Yeh I will take some pics as soon as I get my camera back (a friend of mine has it at the moment ;)).
You can change the color of the display from blue to green.
Stay tuned for pictures :)

I doubt mine will do it since it's only a gt530ui.... but how do you change the color? :D

Thanks,
Eric

If you have not checked out this thread... do so. It makes new head units function to their fullest with the factory amp.

Cheers!

Not sure if yours has this function. On your remote press and hold SEL(ect) button then in the menu scroll to ILLUM and select that. There you can switch between the colors green/blue.
Green actually does look like the crossfire dash color but I still think the blue looks a lot better...
