Default New "used" Radio for my '04

I know others have experienced same frustration with the early 04 LED radios. They were hard to read in the daylight. I've been searching for a newer XFire LCD sreen radio and finally found one in good condition at a good price. Install took all of 5 minutes. What a difference it makes. I can now read the screen during the day, even with sunglasses on. Added bonuses for me ---- for some reason this radio actually has much better reception than my previous one AND it came with a CD in it!!!! I guess when the car was wrecked, the poor owner forgot to eject it. Anyone out their that wrecked Gray 05 Crossie that wants their CD back, let me know.

Also, while I expect I'll be keeping my old one for a spare, I suppose if someone needs one I'd be willing to part with it at a fair price.

Thanks for the info.

Does anyone know is the base radio can be swapped for the limited one and still utilize the OEM amp? I have the radio from my '05 base and would like to put it in my '04 limited because of the visibility on the LCD, just wondering if anyone has blazed the trail before me...

I asked / tried to find that out earlier this spring. I wasn't successful. I'm not sure if it's the same radio / amps etc. and can drive the back speakers in the limited or not. I tried to find this out via some web searching and came up short. I'll see if I can find out more.

One thing to consider is to just try it. Look at the back, look at the ratings and compare then on the stickers located on each unit and see if they match up. Also, it's so easy to swap them out you could just make the switch and see what happens.

I'll repost if I find more info. Good luck.

It was a mix CD. Made by whom ever the vehicle owner was. Blue in color. Nothing on it other than "Mix". Vechicle part came out to a yard in Georgia I believe.

Why didn't you go with a aftermarket radio, if i may ask? Something that was more compatible with iPods and the like.

I thought about it but wanted to keep it stock......for now. Also, I don't even own and Ipod ... and I still convert the music I want to CD's, I'm also planning on purchasing an FM mp3/4 transmitter for the car which I can then just run any digital music through the existing unit, so stock can more than satisfy my needs.

I've narrowed down my transmitter search and will be getting that soon. It's a plug and play and the reviews are really quite good on it and I can take it and use it in other cars too, as well as rentals on trips.
