Default Installed the JVC AVX-44 today with backup camera.

I've been on the fence on whether to purchase the AVX-77 or 44. Brand new I'd be shelling out over $400 shipped for either one of them. The other day I found the AVX-AVX-44 for $150 shipped (used), so that made the decision very easy.

Here's the cost breakdown for those interested in what the camera, satellite radio components, etc. cost:

JVC AVX-44: $150
Harness: $20
SiriusConnect SC-C1 Universal Vehicle Tuner: $60
JVC KS-SRA100 SiriusConnect to JVC Interface: $60
Camera: $80
Antenna: $15
Euro Key: $7

My total cost was under $400, so I have no signs of buyer's remorse and feel very good about the purchase.

By the way, does anyone know how to adjust the settings so that the camera is automatically displayed when reverse is selected?

It's working now. I failed to connect a 12v jumper from the reverse light to the stereo.

Thanks. I left the factory amp and speakers stock for now, since they sound fine. I doubt I'll upgrade them unless they fail.

Here's a couple shots of the hole I drilled in the glove compartment to run the USB cable.

I used one of the tag bolts to secure the camera.

Clever. Now the cops can't see that your tag expires this month ......

Here's the camera I used. For the JVC, I only had to ground a wire in order to have video in motion.

I have the AVX 11 and all did to bypass was to run the wire directly to an earth. I just used a point I knew was a good earth. Easy to test for with a circuit tester or Multimeter.

If you're connecting a wire to the earth, the length and weight would probably cause problems on a long drive.

You would have to carry a huge coil of wire to go on a trip.
Maybe you could install a retractable grounding arm to scrape across the ground instead of connecting a wire to any earth. I'm just saying.

We definitely agree on that one. This is especially true with sartorial wit, as I'm not a snazzy dresser.

We really don't use that expression on this part of the Earth.
