Bump! Mine started doing it too Randomly the lights start flashing and sometimes the alarm goes off (i unlocked doors with fob fine but when i opened the door the alarm went off and i could not shut it off until it just stopped tripping by itself). Battery is about 6 months old and i already replaced fob batteries to no avail.

When dealerships say $400 for a possible fix, they mean 'give us a blank check and we will try to fix it, no promises'.
My bet is water damage in the trunk or a faulty siren.
Best to look in the trunk first.
Fob batteries have nothing to do with it.

yeah , i took it to them and asked to look at it , the fix they claimed for sure, i myself call it possible , because when they looked at it they were being morons and i could tell. the stock karman alarm was remove at somepoint , and no one bothered to re hook up the horn to the stock security or door locking system ,so my panic button just lights up the car, the funky part is that they also left the karman siren in it , hooked up to god knows what because when it goes off , i cant do anything about it. the car horn works just fine when used on its own though,so its connected to that at least!

Your horn does NOT honk or beep when the alarm is set or goes off. Only the new replacement sirens 'chirp' when arming/disarming. The siren has a set of wafer rechargeable batteries in them that will eventually go bad and start acting up. Order the 'chirping' siren and no more than a reasonable amount of time to replace it will get you a new siren and chirp when you lock/unlock. BUT, if it is water in the 'trunk' central locking module, it is going to be a lot more expensive and troublesome to get in there and fix it. It's possible just time consuming and expensive for the parts. Like was recommended, look for the water in the 'trunk' first by getting under the rear and poking a hole in the two rubber plugs just rearwards of the axle at the bottom of the 'trunk' and see if water comes running out of either side. You also may be able to grab/pop the passenger side out if you do not want to poke a hole in it. If there is no water in there, then I would definitely replace the siren. Thats the best advice I have in this instance.

you sir have amazing advice , when im a little less surgery fresh i will do so. the batteries sounds like a potential ,although the lights go flash as if it were the alarm ,there may well be a module back there after all though the stealership claimed it was all gone.

I've had this problem, I still cannot figure out where the leak is coming from. The control module in the trunk underneath all the styrofoam is a Central Door Locking Vacuum Pump. You can find used ones on E-Bay or other resale sites. I've posted a link to one of them to show what they look like. I have no connection to the site and I am not selling any of these, but this is what they look like. When they get wet the electronics in them go bad and corrode. They range anywhere from $150 to upwards of $600 for a new one. They are easy to change out. It really is a do it yourself job, as long as you can master your way through all of the carpet and styrofoam. I'm still trying to find my leak so if anyone has any help in determining that I would appreciate it. I have an '06 crossfire with the retractable ferring. I've seen post about leaks with the stationary ferring but not the retractable one.

The one posted is for an '00 to '04 but it's the same part number for the '06

"retractable ferring" ?? I'll guess you are speaking of the wing. Under the wing you will see a plate that the wing attaches to. Most leaks originate from a poor seal of that plate to the cars body. Instructions as to getting that plate off varies a little in respect to a coupe or a convertible. You remove the trim from the inside of the car below the wing. When the trim is off you will see the studs/nuts which must be removed to lift the wing up and off the car ( you will also disconnect the electrical connectors). I used a putty like sealant that comes as a rope (Mortite, Weatherstrip and Caulking Cord) to make a new seal. There is also a possibility that the gasket around the gasoline fill door is leaking, or the electrical protective cover near the hinges of the trunk/hatch is allowing water to enter the hatch, but most of the leaks are the poor seal at the wing attachment plate. There are threads on the forum that have pictures and more info as to the repair.
