Head Unit
Hi,im Lee from the UK and i bought a 2006 convertible last week. The head unit i have is an Infinity radio/cd but has no fader control.Ive checked behind the seats and theres two speakers ready for use.Does that mean i have the basic head unit and the rear speaker wires are located ready for plugging into an upgraded head unit? The speakers behind the seats are at an angle,im assuming there subs but im not sure.I will be changing the head unit to an ipod/bluetooth and maybe satnav system. Is the amp seperate from the head unit as the Infinity booklet that came with the car is very confusing. Thanks for the advice thats coming hopefully
The OEM setup makes a left-and right 3-way speaker pair. Subs behind and mids/tweeters in the doors.
A truly poor setup, I agree. I'm installing an amp for the rears (subs) and running it from my Pioneer aftermarket head unit.

Yes, the Infinity amp is separate from the head, it is at the front of the passenger footwell under the carpet mounted on a white painted steel frame along with the TCM ( if you have an automatic )
Well the average head unit puts out 200 watts so with the Infinity amp that should be loud enough!!Ill probably install rear speakers as well to complete the system.Has anybody installed rear speakers where the subs are?In my last car i put powered subs under my seats.
