Strange happenings with the stock head unit
So a month or so ago I was messing with my audio settings because I was getting really boomy bass from the door speakers and nothing from the subs and it was really annoying me how the door plastic was rattling. I knew nothing of the user presets at the time, but I found them by accident and when I switched from preset 1, the entire audio stage changed. It was incredible, really. If I try to explain the difference between how I had the settings set and how it changed when I switched users, it's like the bass fell to the subs only and the mids dropped out (something you can't do with the radio afaik). When I checked the audio options, bass was at +4 and treble was at -4. I switched back to user 1 and changed the settings there to match, but the audio was still noticeably inferior. While listening to music, there was a massive and very noticeable difference between user 1 and 2 when switching between the two.
Now, after finding this amazing "feature" on my radio, I dicked it up by changing one of the audio settings, which totally killed the effect I described earlier. Changing the setting back did nothing, so there was something about that user preset that I don't know how to change that made the audio quality so much nicer. Turned out that user 3 was the same way, so I switched to there and didn't touch a thing.... untill about 2 days ago when I completely forgot that I was relying on this ever-so-delicate system to be able to enjoy music. I felt the bass was lacking a bit, so I turned the bass up a notch in the audio settings and boom, instantly the soundstage changed. Of course, reverting my settings back to how they were did nothing, but now all 3 users in the radio are set the same way, and none of them have this "secret setting" anymore.
Does anyone have even the slightest clue as to what I'm talking about? I've looked through the user manual at least 3 times trying to find mention of any hidden settings or features that could describe this, but I can't find anything. There also seems to be no way to reset the radio to factory, which might have reset the magic secret setting that was doing this wonderful thing. I'm at a complete loss, and I'm hoping someone here knows what I'm talking about, because music just isn't the same now.
