Default BAS/ESP Warning Light?

I bought my new 2004 Crossfire on 12/21/04. I had back at the Dealership on 12/23/04. I was delivered the car with the BAS/ESP warning light on. It stayed on after the car was started and ran for 5 to 10 seconds. It said in the owners manual that the car should be looked at if you could not do the re-calibration on your own from the manual.

I tried it, didn't work. Took it back to the dealer and there was only one service tech that can work on the Vipers & Crossfire's. There was another tech that did electrical and he took a look at it. He said after running a diagnostic check nothing came back negative.

But I was also told there were no brake lights and asked if they worked when I bought the car? I had thought they had worked after all it was a new car. To the point it will be in the shop for a week or so waiting for a part to be shipped in. As anyone else had a similar problem?

HI... Yes we have had the same problem, the light has a mind of its own, one day on one day off, one day 20 miles driving and it comes on.. we finally tracked the problem to a brake switch..took three garage attempts, they are due to fix it next week... by the way cruise doesnt work when the light is on, nor does the differential braking..

Same here... Unfortunately that was the first of many problems I've found with my Crossfire. The dealer blamed it on a faulty sensor, which they are replacing. I'm scheduled to take my Crossfire in on Monday to get that and the other problems fixed. I'll let you know how it goes with the sensor.

Mine only came on once, and that is because I disconnected the battery when fitting my illuminated door sills. Read the manual, did the re-calibration and it has been off ever since.

Here is an update with what happened with mine. (BAS/ESP LIGHT) It was a $36.00 dollar part. Integrity Chrysler in Vegas had my car for a total of two weeks. Another thing is they broke my key. And ordered me another one. Telling me I could just come down and pick it up. And I Know darn well that it would have to be programmed. So I just showed up to make them realize they need to get their act together with parts, service, and their overall dealership.

They put me in a rental car which was nice because I actually did receive some great service from Enterprise. The cost of the rental was $560.00 for a $36.00 part. Not to mention going through the holidays without my Crossfire that I had the chance to have before taking it in after having it for only one day. The dealership touts that it has a 5 Star rating with Chrysler.

The reason being is that they tell you at Integrity that when Chrysler sends out it's survey to ask you how your overall service was and how pleasant your purchasing experience was? Integrity gets you to bring the survey to them before you send it off and offers you a full tank of gas or a dash cover for your Crossfire. I wonder what they do with the survey or try to make you believe that thing's will get better. I made a copy to give Integrity and sent the original to Chrysler.

I did contact Chrysler's complaint department via telephone and filled a complaint. Even the guy taking the information was very nice and could not believe what I did go through. Their were other things that I'm not mentioning here because of length and enough complaining. But my biggest thing with Integrity was the crap about my cars part was first available in Oregon then Minnesota, them California, and finally another dealership here in town had it. And every few days they were calling me telling me the part would be in the next couple of days. Well it turned out to be two weeks.

But I must say after getting my car home and being able to drive around a bit it has been very fun experience. I do feel the car rides a lot tighter that my 2002 Millennium Yellow Convertible Corvette. The Crossfire has a better stock stereo and a few other features like the quality of the overall interior. Don't get me wrong the Corvette can and will hold it's own with just about anything on the street when it comes to flat out speed, cornering, handling, and nothing beats having a good old American V-8 in my opinion. One thing is still for sure, that American made cars have a long way to go to catch the German craftsmanship period. Of course again this is only my opinion. My BAS/ESP light has never came back on. So all is well for now.
