Default The Last Radar Detector You will Ever Buy!

I thought I would share this with all of you that really like to drive your Crossfire's the way they are supposed to be driven. I have had a few Radar Detector's including Jammer's in my day but I will tell you that nothing can keep the troopers off you better than a Valentine One Radar Locator!

What separates this Detector from everyone else is that it has a patented warning system relying on both forward and rearward facing radar antennas, front and rear laser sensors too. Plus it surrounds the car with a protective barrier as well. It will also tell you what direction they are attacking you from.

Valentine One has over thrown every high end radar detector that is out there. Plus when this company comes out with an update you do not have to purchase a new one, you can get yours updated unlike the competition. You can also get a concealed display so that other drivers cannot tell you have a radar detector to play follow the leader.

Car and Driver raves about this product but you can't imagine the technology that this unit has until you own one for yourself. I know it has kept me from losing my insurance as well as keeping my well deserved drivers license in tact. There is a lot more information on the web site so check it out. It may be a little expensive but worth every penny.

I have read great reviews on the Valentine One, and I agree that it is the best that is currently available. However, I don't agree that it is the last you will ever buy. I have an interesting story regarding radar and radar detectors. When I was an undergraduate in Durham, NC, the inventor of the police radar spoke to us in one of our engineering classes. I don't remember his name, only that he was Korean-American (it was a long time ago). The interesting part is that he was the first person in North Carolina to receive a speeding ticket and be convicted by his own invention (he was rather tickled by that). The reason that I say the Valentine One will not be the last radar detector you ever buy is that the same manufactures who develop the radar detectors are the ones who are developing the radars. It's pretty much a self-perpetuating business.

Are Klasse and Valentine paying you, Liketheride? Your threads sound like they are straight out of a magazine ad, designed to look like an editorial. Not saying you are, or that you are lying... but if you start a thread telling me about a great sex enhancing drug or a guaranteed way to enlarge my *****, I will just assume...

I guess for sharing on this board you get flamed and made fun of. Well I should have figured as much. All I was doing is offering already experienced advice. And help individuals save time, and money as well. It is just a post nothing more. I have surfed around a bit on this board and can really tell the intelligence level here is outstanding to say the least.

The reason I titled this post The Last Radar Detector You Will Ever Buy is because the manufacture will replace all of the guts so to speak as things become outdated with upgraded technology. You can go through all of that on the web site. I will not bother any of you again with my posts. I just need to stay with the little more sophisticated crowd on Corvette boards. Sorry for intruding.

I am sorry if I came of as flaming... but you have to admit that the way your posts are written, it does seem kinda like an ad. I can tell from the fact you actually respond that you aren't just here to ad. I was just pointing out how it looked and having a little laugh. c'mon... it was funny

valentine is overpriced, my passport 850 x50 detects radar sooner and without as much false alarms. The patented detection arrows on valentine are nothing more than an expensive gimmick, dont buy them. That guy works for valentine.

Hi,
We have a passport XP something or other, it works up to 6 miles away, weve tested that !! and it does 360 degrees.. I suspect its personal preference that dictates what you buy.

Having owned BOTH the Escort & the Valentine, the Valentine wins hands down. The arrows work exactly as intended. Really nice when a cruiser is coming up from behind. By virtue of the direction locator, it will also tell you which vehicle is the unmarked car when you're in the thick of it.

On a scale of 1-10 I rate the Valentine an 11 !

As an aside, I investigated my purchase before buying. Perhaps since it's available only through direct marketing the radar detector sellers and reviewers on line seem to ignore this product. Read the Car & Driver review, and they offer a 30 day (I think) return policy if you're not satisfied.

Good Luck & Stay Safe !

H

I also have had several radar detector's through the years. I have had my Valentine updated twice. The last time for something like $75 they were so awesome they gave me a brand new updated unit. Like The Ride is right it, it has been the last radar locator that I have bought since 1994. Thank you for the post.

Ditto for me. I have had my V-1 since 1996 and its awesome. I do most of my driving in Virginia where they don't take too kindly to radar detectors, and the V-1 has saved my butt more times than I can count. The concealed remote display is nice too...

Umm, if you had to pay $75 to get it updated and then pay the shipping charges, isn't it kinda like having to buy it again (albeit 1/3 the original price)? Sounds kinda like Microsoft saying "buy windows '98, it will be the last operating system you will ever need ... future upgrades available for an additional $99 bucks..."

Yep. But unlike Microsoft, the V-1 upgrades optional. If you choose not to, you still have a perfectly good , working product. I know that over the years my V-1 has easily saved me more than 10x the money I spent on the unit itself and the one upgrade (to add laser detection) I had done.

...no doubt that Valentine One makes a fine product. Frankly, it would be the only radar detector that I would trust when the freeway turns to 65 mph and I want to go 75.

Well, my original escort is still a perfectly good, working product ... but wouldn't you say that technology has advanced a little since Mr. Valentine invented it? Same as Mr. Gates Windows '98. Still a good (cough) OS but technology has advanced, hence upgrade needs every few years. They are in the business of "built in obsolescence" ... not once and done. see below.

I too, have an Escort 8500 and am very happy with it. It even saved me this weekend from a Laser trap... I'm not saying the Valentine might not be better, although I've seen several test reports that put them neck-and-neck, but I'll stick with Escort - it has held up really well...

v-1 always comes in first place, don't think i have ever seen it lose. no offense to escort, but they have been playing catch up for ten years. plus, it has arrows.

Well you kinda comparing apples & oranges here. The original Escort was a basically a radio tuned to listen for X-band radar. When the radar signal broke the squelch it sounded the alarm.

The V-1 uses a Texas Instruments digital signal processor (DSP) which means that aside from being able to determine whether or not the radar is there/not there, it can determine how many there are, where they are, what frequency they're on, and which one is the greatest threat to you. All others just go "beep". The "upgrades" to the V-1 are just software updates to the DSP's program. Police radar operates on three distinct bands (X, K, and Ka) so there's no need to upgrade the hardware if the radio section of the box can already receive them. What's really important is what the box does with them once they are received!

BTW, The reason that the original Escort is such a good detector is because it was designed by Mike Valentine when he worked for Cincinnati Microwave back in 1976. I'm not sure I'd use one on the road today (it only receives X-band) but its a nice collector's piece.
