I have just purchased a 2004 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE 22A AUTOMATIC with a genuine 13705 Kilo meters on the clock. It came with only 1 remote / transponder key for entry and starting the vehicle.
I have found out during the last few days that it is prohibitively expensive ($1200!!!) to obtain a replacement key here in New Zealand as you have to go through the authorized Chrysler agent . I went into a local specialist key facility today who said that they could read the chip. However, they tried, double checked, and then said that it could only be completed through an authorized Chrysler dealer because it was a very specialized procedure.
My Crossfire originally came into New Zealand from Germany (fully built up) and was sold new here in New Zealand.
I live in New Zealand (outside the USA). My current key does not have the panic button. Could you clarify for me the difference between having to get a replacement key OEM – NON USA – compared to the normal OEM replacement key (with panic button).
Can these keys be ordered from the USA at a cheaper price and who is a credible supplier?
Thanks so much for your help and advice. PS....love my Crossfire!
