New Owner, need info on CD changer compatibility
Howdy everybody! I drove home my new '05 roadster last night, and as you can imagine, I'm a happy camper right about now.
About the only project I have for the car is to make it mp3-compatible. It's equipped with the NAV unit, which can control a Chrysler #82209102 CD changer, as mentioned in previous posts. As to the availability of that unit, I don't know, but my dealership was quick to tell me that it is an option that can be purchased.
I have an Alpine CHA-S634 mp3-CD changer that I would like to install in the car. I want to install this changer and control it with the stock NAV head unit. I expect I need an Alpine to Crossfire interface, but I haven't been able to find one. I'm asking for help from Car Toys and my dealership, but I haven't gotten much yet. I've searched the forum and found some good info, but not specifically interfacing an aftermarket changer.
I hope some of you guys can help me out here!
Soundgate lists an Alpine to '05 Chrysler interface. The table says for Crossfire, "info forthcoming". I asked them, and they told me it's NOT compatible. What I'd like to know is if the Infinity NAV unit is unique, or if it's operation is the same as some other Chrysler or MB models. I'm hoping I can get an interface specified for MB or Chrysler that will work.
Does anyone here know:
Is the Crossfire NAV unit's CD changer control the same as any other '05 Chrysler models?
Is the connector different?
Is it fiber optic?
Is it the same that was in the previous generation SLK?
I've seen the Chrysler CD changer advertised as compatible with the '05 Viper. Does anyone know of an Alpine interface for that head unit? Is it an Infinity model?
I've seen on this forum that the NAV head unit is equivalent to a Becker BE6811. Does anyone know if there's an Alpine interface specified for that model?
Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure anything out for it.
Take a look at these two websites.

Go to this site and call Becker. http://www.beckerautosound.com/
The standard head unit is a Becker unit and a Becker changer will fit, however if you contact Becker they will tell you that you have to go to Chrysler.

Thanks for the replies. It looks like there's not much support out there for interfacing aftermarket changers with Becker head units. I've tried to find a European equivalent with no luck. There are so few Crossfires on the road, there is probably little motivation for anyone to make an Alpine interface for it.
I'm going to get a Pioneer 4700 MP - MP3/CD head unit and a 12 disc changer. I had one in my last car and have three magazines already. A new one would give me 4, which would give me a good start. the Pioneer also has a plug in adapter for Sirius radio, which I want to add later.
I've given up trying to interface my Alpine changer to the NAV head unit. I've decided to have a Sony CDXF7710 installed. It seems like a decent color match.
Anybody want to buy a NAV unit?

This is the factory Infinity NAV head unit for the '05 Crossfire. It is equivalent to a Becker DTM 7802 (as far as I can tell). It's a $1200 upgrade of the standard head unit and retails for $1950. I'll sell it for $800 to the first taker, or best offer. Included are the head unit, GPS antenna, manual, and US/Canada CDs. It comes out of my car, which has 900 miles.
The item is now listed on ebay at:
