MP3 solution..?
I've been reading all of the posts about options for using an MP3 player with the stock radio. Here is an option from Crutchfield that looks good when you read the reviews on-line (this is from the technical advisor e-mail I received):
"I would be glad to help with your question about playing back the audio from your MP3 player through the audio system in your '05 Chrysler Crossfire. Unfortunately however, we don't have any devices that will create an auxiliary input on the stock radio in your car. I'm sorry I don't have better news here.
However, you can use an FM modulator ( Scosche FM-MOD01 Modulator) to playback audio from your MP3 player in your car. You'll find one on our website at:
http://www.crutchfield.com/I-rsemc020/cgi-bin/Prodview.asp?i=142FMMOD01
You'll also need two antenna adaptors to complete the install - item 12040EU10 ($19.99) and item 12040EU20 ($19.99). Be sure to enter your vehicle into our Online Vehicle Selector. Just point your browser to:
http://www.crutchfield.com/I-rsemc020/whatfits
Using the Online Vehicle Selector for your order ensures that you will get the installation accessories you are entitled to, so you can start enjoying your new gear sooner."
Question: has anyone tried this type of modulator? If so, does it work as well as the on-line reviews say?
Thanks,
Frank McCamant

i do not have this installed on my crossfire, but have had experience with FM modulators. pretty much it depends on how much you care about sound quality. although there are some good quality sounding FM modulators, they still are only as good quality as a clear radio station. if this is fine for you then an FM modulator is the way to go.
i had an FM modulator installed in my old acr (cavalier z24) in order to input my play station sound into the car speakers (when i didn't have an aux input on my headunit). i bought the FM modulator from best buy (it was ok quality as some can sound really bad) for around $30. for my needs, it worked fine for playing video games and not so bad for playing videos, but i care a bit about sound quality for my music. so once again, if you are ok with the quality for a really clear radio station then the FM modulator would work for you.

Me too. That's why I still suffer with the stock radio. I have to get approval from the wife for large purchases and now I want my radio to do more. I will start looking for one with inputs and Bluetooth.
There are some new units that display your I pod display on the head unit and even allow interface with the ipod from the head unit. I will post findings as I discover more.
Respect mon.

If it is an IPOD then check out www.driveandplay.com install it with their optional wired FM antennae box and it works pretty good for FM. Our radios don't have an aux input and there seems to be to way so far to fool the radio into thinking there is a cd changer connected to the nav radio as of yet (too small of a market).
I installed the wired FM modulator yesterday. It was fairly easy. I had to do a gain adjustment today, but I spent the afternoon doing Christmas errands, listening to the Trans Siberian Orchestra from my Creative Zen Micro, with the top down in our beautiful Austin Texas weather. The sound quality is great and I am very pleased with the installation.
Have a great Holiday season!
