Default Canadian Crossfire totals

I am the proud owner of an '05 SRT-6 roadster (SSB) purchased 1 month ago. The vehicle was a Chrysler company car, and had 8,700 KM on it when I got it. So far I love the car - generally enjoying it on weekends only as a pleasure vehicle.

There are several threads on the main boards regarding production numbers by year, etc., but does anyone know what the volume of Canadian spec cars is by year and model, or where that might be available?

Thanks.

Congrats on purchasing one of the nicest cars on the road. It would be interesting to know Canadian production numbers. Enjoy the ride.

I am in Burlington, Ontario. The vehicle was sourced for me by Jeff Easton, the Used Car manager at Glenleven Chrysler in Oakville.

Is there any number in the VIN that indicates that the car was produced for the Canadian market?

I don't believe so judging by the VIN codes shown below:

1 Country of Origin 1 = Manufactured By DaimlerChrysler Corporation
2 Make C = Chrysler
3 Vehicle Type 3 = Passenger Car
4 Other K = Restraint System Front Air Bags Next Generation, (CGW) With Standard Side Air Bag Supplement (CGS)
5 Car Line N = Crossfire (LHD), P = Crossfire (RHD), 6 Series 6 = “S” Series
6 Export Transmission C = 6 Speed Manual (DED), E = 5 Speed Automatic (DGU)
7 Body Style 9 = Specialty Coupe
8 Engines L = 3.2L V6 SOHC 18 Valve
9 Check Digit See explanation in this section
10 Model Year 4 = Model Year
11 Plant X = Osnabrueck Germany
12 through 17 Sequence Number 6 Digit Sequential Number Assigned By Assembly Plant.

Canadian XF's are required to have daytime running lights and the bumpers are required to meet Transport Canada Standards. Does anyone know if this is done at the factory or are they modified in Canada?

I am going to take an educated guess on this one...I think they would be done at the factory during the assembly/production process. I also think that there may be some other countries in Europe that require Daytime Running Lights and similar Bumper Standards. Also, the cars must meet Metric Standards for speedo and odometer and this would definitely be done at the factory.

Mine came in from the State's a year ago, day time lights and speedo added by dealer, who couldn't find a 2005 Roadster in Canada (bet he could today). No other changes done to the Crossfire. With international standards I think that a car built for the North American market would be to our standards!. Now I wish that I had got the SRT Roadster.

Interesting. The Transport Canada site says if you import a XF from the U.S., The bumpers must be modified to meet Canadian standards. I wonder if this was done to your car?

You are quite correct when a car is imported into Canada from the U.S.

My car was not imported from the U.S. It was made for the Canadian market direct from Germany. As per the previous posts, my car would have been built with all the appropriate changes made at the factory before shipment.

Don't know what the total Canadian production numbers are but I believe my Xfire (serial #8xxx) may be the earliest production number factory made for the Canadian market; anyone out there who can prove me wrong?

I just got mine a few weeks ago. Serial # 24111. It's a 2005 but built in feb of 2004 so it's pretty early for an '05
