Front License plate abolition in Ontario
There are some rumblings that the front license plate may be done away with. It will save millions so it is a viable option.
If you can be bothered you should let your MPP know that you like the idea or let the Minister of Transportation know.
The minister is;
Kathleen Wyne MPP,
Minister of Transportation.
3rd Floor, Ferguson Block
77 Wellesely Street
Toronto, M7A 1Z8
Ontarriario.
Email would be easier, anyone have the Ministers?

Great! They waited until I had holes poked in my lovely, pristine Michigan bumper... then they come up with the brainwave! Rats!
I just hope that they decide before I cut out the space in my new Front End Bra for the opening.
Seems like some progressive thinking from Queen's Park... amazing ...

I do hope they would get rid of the stupid front plate. mainly because i refuse to put a plate on the front of the car, and for the fact that i then wont have to keep my eyes out for the police.
Great news!......haven't put a front plate on the 6, didn't have the heart to drill into the bumper

I ordered one of those Altec front retractable license plate holders. i got the powered version, a pretty slick little gizmo i must say. Just waiting for spring to come around to install it.
Its designed to be used when you go to car shows, you can hide your plate. BUT...

It will never happen. In the 25yrs I have been at the Ontario Legislature, this issue has come up a number of times. Never debated and never put forward as a private members bill. Don't get me wrong, I too would love to see them go, any car guy/gal would!......I just wouldn't hold your breath.

However if a party supporter had the their fingers in the pie they may not like losing half of their profits.
I will not be investigating the methods of repairing these holes just yet though.
But then again I am a cynic at heart.
Incidentally I took of the rear plate and was amazed at the mess behind it, got to wash and polish that area. Have you look at your rear lately?

Ok Dave, I will make this post worthwhile;
The last time I looked at my rear was when I had a case of the hemroids.............LOL!
An Idea already endorsed by most other provinces & it'sbetter for the environment in saving materials like metal, paint & gas for vehicle effiency sounds like an easy decision - but this is govn't so won't hold my breath.
I'm also looking at the retractable version, anyone know the actual law on plate visibility/obstructed plate. Could you not just press the remote when you get pulled over and keep it hidden the rest of the time.
