Default Engine oil and where to buy

Hi everyone, was doing an oilchange on my Neon and then my wifes Dakota, had to go to Walmart for oil and noticed that they do not carry 0w40 Mobil 1 at the store. I was wondering what or where we can find 0w40 mobil 1 in Canada. I can always go to the states to get it but then I have to change money and so on. So if anyone knows where, I would appreciate the heads up on this.By the way it is $4.79 US a quart in Detroit. Thanks...Lukester

I guess my question has been answered as I see there are over 50 views on this and no responses, so I guess I will have to go to the states...

I went directly to an Esso bulk supplier. Got a case of 0 W 40 - (6 litres) for $50.00 Canadian. I actually needed about half of a 7th litre, so you might want to buy 2 cases. If you have trouble finding a place, go to your favorite gas station and ask who their fuel supplier is.

I bought a case 6 qts for $36.00 at my oil supplier in town. That's US dollars. I last saw it avaiable in local parts store. Many european cars are going to this oil.

Yes and our government says your drugs for medical use are tainted. They are 1/2 there. I say show me the dead Canadians. So we smuggle them from you. LOL

I hear ya man, I think it is crazy how we sign all these trade agreements and when joe consumer sees a loophole. We are told not to jump through. Seems these agreements are only good when big business WINS not you or me, thanks for the laugh...still laughing.

Nearly all of the auto parts chain stores carry Mobil 1 0w40 ... Auto Zone, Big A, O'Reilly, Pep Boys, etc.

Jeff Horton, here's one for you ... I have been doing some consulting work with Hospital das Clinicas in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the state's public health care medical complex. They manufacture all of their pharmaceuticals on-site because they can provide them to their patients for 7% of what it costs to buy them from the U.S.

Have you heard of Amsoil? Good for 25,000 miles. BUT they do not have a 0-40 oil for cars, just small engines. Are you using Mobile 1?

Thanks, Jerry

It came from the factory with 0w40 mobil 1 and it will always get mobil 1. I stopped at the dealer yesterday and asked him what the charge would be if I supply the oil and filter and he said $15.00 dollars Canadian so I will be taking it to them when the time comes. He also mentioned to me that if I was gonna keep the car (which I am) that when I bring it out of storage that I should change the oil as soon as possible once its out. Hardly any miles on it but that oil has been in that pan for a long time and I will feel better knowing that it is fresh. I just can't put a price tag on piece of mind. I have heard of Amsoil from the guys at work, and I have heard nothing but good things about it, but like I said it came with Mobil and that is all its gonna get.

We have none of these stores in Canada. At least not in BC.

Thanks Alvin for the phone number I will give them a call soon and see what the bottom line is.Given my proximity to Detroit I will see if it would be cheaper to go over myself or have it shipped right to my home.Won't hurt to make a call though...Thanks Again and have a good day.

lukester, you're welcome. I checked a few of the other auto parts chains, but most of the do not ship outside the U.S. ... says a lot for NAFTA.

A co-worker with a new snowmobile asked me about 0W-40 oil for his sled. Seems his Skidoo needs 0W-40 and his dealer will sell him Skidoo brand synthetic oil for around $17 Cdn a Lt!! He was hoping I had a cheaper source for my Crossfire. I guess it is time for a trip to Buffalo!

"No officer there is nothing under that blanket" !!

Talking Mobil 1 Oil Available

I checked with a friend who works part time in a CdnTire store in London. Apparently, the 0-40 Mobile 1 is in their system. If you can get a sympathetic CTC parts counter guy...they can order it by the case. I will post if I actually get it! parilla@nonline.net
UPDATE; Canadian Tire have delivered me a case of 6 one LT containers of 0W-40 oil. Had to buy a full case of 6, but price was $53.
