Woodward Av. Dream Cruise Saturday Aug. 19
I'm planning to cruise Woodward tonight and maybe thursday evening. No more Saturday cruises for me it just gets too crowded.
Last year it took me 2 and 1/2 hours to go 3 miles, then around 9 PM the local PDs chased everyone off Woodward. If you are planning to attend be prepared to crawl...that's not cruising.

i'm going for sure have gone every year for a long time. i don't think i'll drive in it though. one reason is because you go so slow and other i just fell like the crossfire shouldn't be in the cruise. its just not old enough the cruise is meant for older cars.

It's called the Woodward Ave. Dream Cruise, not the Woodward Ave. "Classics Only" Dream Cruise. Besides that's what the curb lane is for (Classics).
My Crossfire got alot of attention last year, at least more than the 500 or so PT Cruisers that showed up.
The whole point of the get together is for a million + people to show up and experience what Woodward was all about. Not just the old cars, but new ones too. That's one of the things that makes it so cool, seeing the "contrast" between the cars of today along side the cars of yesterday.
I mean, where else are you going to see a Ford GT, Viper, Z06, and a Ferrari all sitting side by side at an intersection, while a boat load of Classics roll by in front of them. I did last summer, and naturally I left the camera in the car.
+fireamx,
I agree with you. We went cruisin' Tuesday night in our vette and saw that there were thousands of them, all different years, new and old, so today we went out in our Magnum SRT. Since there weren't any others that we could see, we got more looks from that car. We have to go to Beaumont in Royal Oak Saturday morning for some tests, so we'll maybe cruise a little in the morning, but not sure what car to take. That's what's nice about the Dreamcruise. It doesn't matter what you're in so long as it's cool! I would have loved to do a Crossfire caravan, but doesn't seem like we have enough interest! That's a shame too, cause people come from all around the country to see this (I know someone who flew in from Phoenix) and we live right here and can't seem to organize anything.
Saturday is probably not the day to go out there because you can't get anywhere, but it would be nice to maybe some year have a place for us all to park together and sit in some chairs by the curb and watch all the other cars go by.
Happy Crusin'!!

I was thinking about it but with this guest list in my house these past weeks, that's not going to happen. My wife's uncle lives/works near by and told me recently to come up and join in. Sounded great. I'll definitely think about this for next year. Perhaps an "organized" Crossfire hook up is in order?
It's definitely not for "classics" or old cars!

JM Piquet,
We probably won't have my XF Saturday morning because after the hospital thing. We are going to cruise for a few then have to head off to Ann Arbor because our middle child is up from Ft. Lauderdale for the weekend and we don't get to see her very often. We'll probably be in the Magnum SRT cause it fits more than 2 people in it. If you're out there and you see us, give us a honk!
Have fun cruisin'.

Pic of my XF next to the big Mopar truck at the Woodward Cruise. I only saw one other XF. it was an Aero Blue Roadster.
I took some other photos from the Chrysler display on the SW corner of Woodward and 13 mile road. I will post an album in my gallery for those that couldn't make it.

Got back home from the cruise around 3:30 this morning. Had a great time (as always). It was overcast, and drizzled a little in the morning, but cleared up in the afternoon. Didn't seem to dampen the spirits of any of 1 million + people who attended.
I saw about 8 or 10 different Crossfires, (nobody waved though). I was surprised at how many people sitting along the side of the road know about the wing. (sorry SRT owners) but the general public seems to love the Limited's wing.
I did see a contingency of about 15 new Mitsubishi Eclipse GT's and a couple of EVO's all cruising together at one point (probably a club) and I have to say, it was impressive. I wish we could have done the same thing with our XF's.
I saw license plates as far away as California. I can't stress this enough, but if you consider yourself a car enthusiast, then you owe it to yourself to come to the Woodward Ave. Dream Cruise at least once in your life. I'd be willing to bet, you will come back.
JM Piquet, I'm glad you're posting photo's, as usual, I left the camera at home.
