Default 2nd first in one week

Won best Chrysler 71-present at Lee's Summit Optimist Car Show yesterday. It was participant judging and that was a first for me. Took a while to figure out how the score cards worked. We all got to be judges that day, that felt good.

I'm telling you, one out of 5 people asked me what kind of car it was. Tons of favorable comments. One older guy made p his mind to buy one of them ASAP cause he liked mine so much. Great people and a great show

It's funny showing this car...they just look at it...and say what is this car again? I finally am working on a plaque with the history of the car to place on top of the SC while showing it....and working on blowing up my time slip as well...

Congrats!
Has me thinking of putting my cars in an upcoming show.

Love the part about folks asking what kind of car it is.

OK well ya got me there Steve This was a small show, only 50-60 cars. I was actually the only one that showed with a Chrysler newer than 1940-50. So yes, I guess it was an easy win but the awards are just icing on the cake of a GREAT day. I was just happy to be there meeting some really interesting people with some amazing stories of their past; shared some testimony with a few Christian brothers and sisters; met some other vets, and most of all represented the crossfire community.

One guy was simply adament about getting himself a crossfire..."I've put this off long enough, I'm getting one of these!" A fun day all in all.

Congrats on your wins.

I gave up on car shows. The Crossfires always end up in a class with the newer Chargers and Challengers. It seems the Challengers get it most everytime because they are new?

James

PS If the deck lid was debadged, very few would actually know what kind of car it is.

I too was at this show and it was a fun, but small show. There were quite a few winners with only 1 car in the class. But hey you showed up and took an award home....good for you and it was for a good cause. I have always wondered why people go buy new are almost new cars and take them to classic car shows? I wonder if it would be better to show it a all new mopar show with the new chargers and challengers. Along with the new camaros, and mustangs. I think maybe those kind of cars belong at a cruise night and not a classic car show. No offense you have a nice car, but for people with true classic cars sometimes all these new cars at classic car shows rub us the wrong way. I can go down to the local dealership and see one. Just an opinion and you know what those are worth.

That is why the better shows have more cars and more classes so all involved fill a void. I love the classic cars as well but to only cater to them seems to miss an important part of a "good" show. It's all in what you are interested in I suppose. I like to see variety at the shows.

I noticed that people had dropped fliers into some of the t-buckets and vintage cars and not mine. I looked closer and saw that it was a show specifically for early model cars. Didnt bother me as I understood the mentality of a classic car show vs a regular car show. I like seeing new and old myself. Its fun to see how creative guys can be with late model cars and see how much vision they have in putting together their rides.

I don't disagree with seeing new and old together per sey. But I see all too often, and just like the class you were in, 71-present...thats a big range. You think if a 71 mint Challenger showed up or a mint 72 Charger showed up that you should be judged against those cars, or more importantly they should be judged against a new car. No and thats all I am saying.
I own a 70 Charger, (my first car) not a show car and its on blocks right now. I also own a mint 72 Monte Carlo which I take to shows. I just bought a 08 Challenger RT....I would never bring the Challenger to a classic car show and put it up against guys with classics....it just doesn't make sense or fair. There are plenty of places I can take the Challenger to "Show it Off" with out pi**ing off the classic guys. Anyway I liked your crossfire and it is a nice car, just remember there was a reason you did not get the show flyers in your car ;-)
I do have a question for you. Do you remember who won best of show.
A 2006 Mustang.
Do you think that was nicer than that 34 Orange Coupe with the black flames, and the super charger sticking out of the hood? I think it was parked right across from you

No. If the 06 mustang was the red aviator one I personally think its over-done. The burnt orange coupe was a fine example of "done right"
