Default Looking for an SRT-6

Hello all! Recently, I have decided to finally go for it and pick up a Crossfire. After doing a lot of research on the internet and particularly this forum, I am sold on buying a SRT-6. However, it seems that only dealers have them available as evidenced by autotrader.com and of the few private sales, the prices are more then the dealers.

Below is what I hope to become the proud owner of one day, but will need the help of this forum and it's members to achieve it.

Looking for a SRT-6 coupe with less then 50k on the clock. My ideal color preferences are black or graphite. My budget is around 13K which I know is a little low but I am flexible for the right car. Also, I prefer to deal with private sellers vs. dealers do to the vehicle taxes I would have to pay in Nevada.

Location wise, the closer to Las Vegas the better but if there is a really good deal in say Orlando, FL, I would buy it and have it shipped back to me. Hence the lowball 13k price (got to factor in shipping costs)

Thanks again to everyone who is reading this post.

Good luck. I hope you find one for that price. If you find one from a forum member you would most likey be getting a car that has been well taken care of.

Good luck geeting one for that budget. But, itispossible.
Don'tthrow dealers under thebus, many are "stck" with these cars and, in this economy, are willing to deal.

However, if you find one here on the Forum, your chanvce of snaggin a good one improve greatly.

You didn't mention EBay, try there.
I have purchased, or found for someone, three Crossfires there.

Thanks for the quick replies so far. Lately I have been poking around eBay and missed out on a good deal from Texas that went for $13,800. The only one listed right now is looking good but we shall see how the bid race goes over the next 24 hours or so.

I do not mind spending a little more $$ assuming I can save on either shipping costs and or sales tax. (Nevada charges sales tax on cars bought out of state from a dealer but not from a private seller)

After a little looking around, the one for sale a few months ago by srt6texas would have been an awesome buy.

Hi there, Mister.

You want a right-priced SRT-6? Here's a right-priced SRT-6.

After doing a little more research, it looks like the car is one owner but was recently involved in an accident where the car struck an animal and had to be towed to a local body shop. Sounds like it was not worth totaling out but still curious to see the photos.

With a car with this high mileage, what are some things I should look out for as potential issues?

Thanks,
Brad

I agree that it is a lot of miles for an '05. Between the accident, the high mileage, location and dealer, we may have to go back to the drawing board on this one.

Of course, if I can get it for the right price (closer to 11k with all the issues and high mileage) it maybe worth taking a look at. Or maybe I am being a little out of line with such a low ball offer.

Nothing surprises me anymore. A low mileage SRT recently sold for 13.8. I did not think I would see that. Seems like several low mileage ones are going in the 15k range now, which I think is a killer deal for one of these babies. Persistence pays off. If I could afford to buy a second one right now, I would jump on an opportunity to pick up a pristine low mileage SRT in the 15K range. Good luck with your search. I am sure you will find the right car at the right price for you.

It seems like all the good deals were floating around in Jan-Feb time frame. But your right, persistence does pay off with awesome deals like low-mileage SRT's for 13-15k. I think I will just hold off right now, keep checking the boards, autotrader, eBay etc.... because something will come up again.

There are some people on this board with access to upcoming dealer auctions if you can go cash all in.

Also crazedlist dot org is a good metasearch resource. Some good cars that don't quite make cars com or autotrader can be picked up there.

Out in the open deals are few and far between. I saw an Aero Blue about 30k miles for 16k from a private seller but I didn't have my finance in place at the time. It went to a dealer who sold it for just under 19K.

Good luck.

I am not trying to knock you, and I applaud you for doing research on the forum, but with such a low budget, one has to wonder if you truly know what it takes to maintain these cars, especially one with 60K+ that will need a double wrench service.

Oil changes are ~$100 if you do them yourself, more from shops. Brakes are not cheap and neither is anything else you do. God forbid something should happen to the supercharger, Mercedes wants damn near as much as you are willing to pay for the car for a new one (I realize you can buy a reman or have yours done, but still).

As I said, my intent it not to belittle you, but you make sure you are aware what kind of expenses could be around the corner

Hell, to properly keep up an NA with the mods and correct maintenance, it is fairly expensive....

Evening!

Or you could try going this route:
https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...rt-6-sale.html

To the best of my knowledge this guy still has the car. Of course, you'd have to figure out some way to get it to Vegas from Cent. WI & get it repaired but, even then, it would probably be well under your budget.

Bought right, that one would be worth a stay in a local hotel whilst a decent wrench monkey made it roadworthy.

I passed up a 16K deal on a blk SRT6 in IL...awhile back...they still had the car a month ago....I think it could be bought for 15.5K....but, I won't contact them if you aren't interested...and I don't see SRTs getting any lower for awhile now...you will see high mileage one's...if you have the stomach for repairs, tires, wheel replacement and such...then you are right back in the 15K range....let me know, I am sure I still have their number....they are the same dealer that has sold numerous Vipers to the couple in TX that collects them...there was a thread about them on here awhile back...anyway, reputable dealer for sure...

No worries BoilerUpXfire, but after doing a little research on the forum and owning a MBZ in the past I am aware of what I maybe in for with regards to the costs of repairs etc... My main reason for the low ball price is so I can have extra $$ left over to cover both normal wear and tear and the occasional unforeseen break the bank type of repair.

Granted, anything fun to drive will end up costing a few $$ to keep up with maintenance. But then again, even a not so fun econobox still cost money to maintain, albeit not as much.

The car looks promising except I am curious how a tie rod broke with no damage to the wheel? I am going to mull it over for a day or two and if it feels right, I will make a trip out there to further inspect it before I make an offer.

Thanks for looking out oledoc2u but I am going to hold off right now on it. After seeing what a few have gone for in the last few months (around the 15k range), I think I will be a little more patient and wait for one to pop up a little closer to home and hopefully even a private seller! (So I can save on shipping costs and sales and use tax when I register it in NV)

Thanks again for everyone looking out for me on this forum! You guys rock!
