New member, looking to join in on the fun (WTB SRT-6)
Hey, I'm a new member, been looking forward to getting a Crossfire for quite awhile and finally getting close to ready to do so (looking to buy in mid/late May). I currently drive an '89 Thunderbird Super Coupe, its had its ups and downs but for the most part ive been pleased with it.
What I'm looking for: low mileage SRT-6 for around the 15k price range, preferably not absurdly far from Tucson, Arizona, but im not too picky. I would greatly prefer one that hasn't been raced too much or heavily modified, I don't intend on doing any racing with it, just some spirited driving on occasion. I'm pretty gentle on cars for the most part and do my best not to abuse them much/often, and I would like to be able to keep and enjoy my crossfire for many years, so I would prefer to start off with a nicer example.
I would definitely prefer to find something here if there is anything so that I might be a bit more confident that the car has been hopefully properly maintained at least, but I'm pretty much open to anything.
I am looking forward to buying this a LOT (and have been for the last couple years really, just hadn't been in the position to be buying a newer car until now).
Sorry if this post is a bit scattered or incomplete, kind of rushing, have to get to work, I'll post again later if i missed anything. Thanks for reading.

edit: I want a coupe, not a convertible

Now I have one of each!
Yo G.
WELCOME to the forum! A while back there was an SRT6 for sale somewhere up there. Must be gone or the owner came to his senses and decided to keep it cuz I can't find it now.
I know down here Crossfires are rare. Don't know of any other SRT6s besides mine.
Once you get one we should try to hook up. Maybe drive to St. Louis for the Crossfires Across America meet?
Good luck finding yer SRT6! That price with low miles is doable but it may be a looooong search!

Yea I actually an flexible on location, I've got friends all across the Midwest and I'm fine with flying out to buy a car and driving it back . How is the quality if the automatic? I'm generally a fan of sticks but I suspect Mercedes does a good enough job with the auto in these. Any things I should be wary of or avoid? I'm a mechanical engineer and not afraid to do some work or get dirty...
The auto-stick is actually quite nice. Some of the more common problems with the SRTs are IC pump (@ $140) going bad, and the Crankshaft Position Sensor (@ $38). For the most part, the SRTs are very reliable cars, and are a blast to drive.
Spend some time going through the forum, and you will learn so much about these cars.
To me, the biggest compliant that I had with the car was the stock CAI. From the oval openings in the grill to the restricted Y pipe at the throttle body. This is easily taken care of with an aftermarket CAI. Most SRT owners go with either a NeedsWings or SL55 CAI setup. To me, that one thing is a must do mod.
After that, it you want more power, add a pulley and get a custom tune on the ECU.
Other things to be aware of:
1. Oil changes are expensive. (fleece filter and 8.5 quarts of synthetic oil)
2. 12 spark plugs.
3. some parts can be difficult to find, but this forum is a good source.

Searched Used Vehicle Inventory
Hi Grant,
This dealership in Kenosha, WI has an SRT-6 coupe that I was considering, but I ended up buying a roadster from a private party. The dealer quoted me a price of $14,500 on this one.

- Year: 2005
- Make: CHRYSLER
- Model: Crossfire SRT-6
- Trim:
- Body style: Hatchback
- Mileage: 21907
- Engine: 6 CYL. 3.2
- Trans: Automatic
- Exterior Color: Sapphire Silver Blue Metallic Clearcoat
- Interior Color: Dark Slate Gray
- Stock: 10030A
- VIN: 1C3AN79N55X047802
I also visited this car and had the same deal worked out. The car drove well but had curbed rims, different tires on front then back, scratches on the mirror housing (deep), very bad gouge/scrape on the rear spoiler edge. Mark on the front bumper but that could be buffed out I think. Not in the best condition for a car with 22k miles on it. I offered them 14k and they did not accept it. I'm picking up my own one tomorrow which I am excited about.

well, i flew out to Texas over the weekend and purchased patrick008's SRT-6 coupe and drove it back to Arizona
I love the car so far, actually found a very reasonable insurance rate and I'm feeling like I'm good to go.
