Default SRT look-a-like for sale in Murfreesboro

Kudos to Kim for spotting this.

She told me there was a "sharp SRT with custom wheels for sale" at Beaman Dodge in the 'Boro.

Naturally, I had to swing by and check it out.

I noticed it had ADR wheels, blacked out trim, and it was debadged of the Crossfire letters. In their place was a very well-done "Karmann" strip of letters. The car had a borla muffler, custom red/black leather SLK seats, and.... a 6-speed.

Yep, turn out that this is a (very well done) SRT imposter. Factory ride height, but otherwise tastefully modded.

He also had what appeared to be andrew's custom emblems, but instead of Crossfire they said Karmann.

He even had the Karmann logo on the silver dash trim, just below the vents.

But, I saw the black radio ***** and the third pedal, and the gig was up.

No idea on price, I'm going to swing by this weekend and look under the hood.

For now, here are three terrible cellphone pics in bad lighting.

Here it is, listed as a 2005 Crossfire Coupe, no mention of SRT6 model......

That's the one.

It's clearly a base model, he's just done the front/rear spoiler upgrade.

Side strakes are CTD chrome as well, and he's done the cupholder removal.

So many of his mods are like ones we'd see on this forum... that's why I posted it. Hoping the current owner will step up, and definitely hoping the future owner will come aboard.

The base models didn't have the cupholder.

I talked to a salesman today ref. this car, he thought it was a special edition based on the lettering on the back. If someone drives by there in the daylight and can take a look at it. I'm in the market for a black base X-Fire for my son. Was beat out tonight on one on E-Bay.

I'll go by tomorrow morning for you and give it a full once-over. Heck, I'll even drive it!

Okay, so I went by and gave it a good looking over. I didn't do a full fluid inspection, records auditing, and the like; but I think I gave it a fair once-over.

I took several more photos today in full light, and overall it's an 8/10. Paint is in great shape, no noticeable dents and if there were minor door dings, I sure didn't see them. I got a good closeup of the hood, and could not detect any swirlmarks. Bottom line, I think this car was garage-kept. Clutch still felt good and tight. There was a minor wiggle in the shifter, nothing crazy but it was a bit looser than mine. His is, however, twice the mileage (70K). You could tell it was adult-driven, had not been abused.

Going over certiain bumps, I could hear a rattle or two in the rear hatch. Car has a SRT spoiler on front and rear. No spoiler light, no codes, no beeping. So, apparently they did a proper job of silencing the alarm and grounding out the wing motor. Kudos for that.

Underhood, it was clean but not spotless. Some writing was on the ECU box, not sure what that was all about. Battery appeared to be factory original. Owner had installed an ebay CAI (basically a warm-air-intake) and i could tell a huge difference between it and mine. This car felt sluggish compared to mine, no doubt due to the intake.

Borla muffler sounds great. A notch or two quieter than my Ansa, yet it still has a hint of rasp to it once you give it some throttle. I prefer my Ansa, but at least now I know what Borla sounds like! And it isn't a bad thing. Might be just what someone else loves.

I took it out on the interstate, and got it up to 90. Everything felt solid and secure. No pulling, but I could detect some vibration in the steering wheel. 99% sure that the wheels simply need to be balanced.

There was plenty of tire left. Forgot to look at the brand, I can check them later if you're interested.

Overall, a clean car that would make a great daily driver. 4.5 stars out of five.

Aftermarket mods, at a glance:
  • CTD Chrome side strakes
  • Karmann lettering on rear hatch
  • Andrew's decals (wheels, badges)
  • Painted OEM air box with Ebay intake tubes, sponge filters
  • Crossfire floormats
  • ADR Mesh Wheels
  • SRT front bumper, SRT rear wing
  • Headlight eyebrows
  • SLK Leather Seats (Black/Red)
  • Borla exhaust
What it needs:
  • Different intake, ASAP
  • Detailing job
  • Beaman logo removed ASAP (on the rear)
  • Fluid change, just to be safe (70,000 miles)
  • Window tint
  • Somebody on here to drive it and love it
Now for the pics:

Also, be sure to call Rick Buffkin. (615)-396-1539

He was the gentleman that rode along, made small-talk about the car, and he loves these things.

He was very helpful, so I would love to see him get the credit if a deal was to carry through.

G- ****, A special thanks to both you and Kim for finding this car and checking it out for me. My son will be picking up this car in the next couple of days. He is on the road now to spend the week in Fontana. Looks like the Book family will be bring two X-Fires to the Dragon this Fall. When he gets back in town I'm sure we will have a new member on the Forum.

Excellent news, my friend. Give this thing a Needswings and it'll be a hoot to drive. Have you told Rick to place it under a "sale pending" status? It's still on the lot, front row. Getting a lot of visibility, so I'd hate to see the thing escape.

Yes, they may put it on the floor before my son picks it up. I have worked with the gentleman you spoke with, they were very fair and have been a pleasure to work with.
