Default “Famous” Crossfire Coupé For Sale UK 82k miles Auto

I am at a point where I am considering selling my 2003 automatic Crossfire Coupé in Sapphire Silver with 82k miles. It has been over three years since I purchased it and other itches have appeared that need scratching.

I say “famous” in the title because the car in question is a very early model that was used as a demonstrator car for the Coventry UK dealership. BBC Top Gear borrowed the car and used it for a studio display while filming their infamous review in series 3 episode 9. Later on in March 2018 I loaned it to Car Throttle so they could use it for their Automotive Misfits series which resulted in yet another infamous review.

In the time I have owned it I have spent an extensive amount of money on it, giving it a partial respray, refurbished wheels, new rear tyres, springs, brakes, steering damper, valve cover gaskets and a variety of other maintenance items.

I am in no rush to sell but I am open to offers around £4800. Based in Suffolk UK

Is that a special release as a 2003? The series is 04-08. Unless your speaking of the registration year? I suggest if that is true it is a 2004, not a 2003? Curious, is there a 'title' like we in the states have? Does that document say it is a 2003? Curious, questions abound...

The car is a September 2003 registration, it’s one of the first Right Hand Drive Crossfires ever built.

Gotcha, I'm guessing the VIN has a 2004 VIN code then? Seems it has had a very colorful life? Do you have all the 'petina' (historic records documenting alll the 'famous' excursions)? Good luck selling her. I suspect someone will just LOVE the RHD version if they are a LHD type temporarily working there (like a US military type).

It has to be one of the most well-known Crossfires in the world, I do have a US Military base not too far from where I live but like I said I’m in no rush to sell so I’m not advertising it widely. Just a few sites and forums to bring interest from people who I know will look after it.

The final number sequence is 010523 whatever that means.

Car definitely has some unique history tied to it.

We here in The States would probably refer to the car as a 2004 Model Year, as early 2004s were probably assembled in 2003 starting around mid-year. Fairly typical for new models to be manufactured starting mid-year of the preceding calendar year (the so called "model changeover") & available for sale in the latter quarter of the preceding calendar year.

But I'm somewhat confident that over in Europe, that same car could be classified as a 2003 Model depending on manufactured and/or registered date. I thought I read that somewhere on the Internet so it must be true!!

Later,

Also take into consideration the time it took to ship them here by boat. If they were built in the second half of 2003 they would not arrive here and be shipped to dealers until early 2004 thus being registered as 2004s here.

The VIN # will tell the tale. The MODEL year should be denoted by the year code in the VIN. Good luck with the sale!

The last eight, not six.

https://support.alldata.com/alldata-...0manufacturer.

The 10th character in the 17-character VIN represents the vehicle model-year.

This is of course superfluous and meaningless in the UK. But if the car were ever issued a title in The United States of America the year on the title would be decided by the 10th character of the VIN, not by any documentation issued in the UK.

I didn't ask for the last 8 NUMBERS, I asked for the last eight, meaning characters... nothing said about NUMBERS.

Just a bump to bring this up the forum ladder. The car is still for sale and I am open to offers, I have another type of car I have been interested in buying for around a decade now and I’m at the point where I want to end the year strong and fresh.
