Just purchased SSB SRT Roadster
I expect to get "jumped" on for this "thread", since it is probably not in the right place. BUT, I've tried navigating the site and have given up. So, I purchased 5X050553 at Mecum's Auction in Chicago. I see it is already listed in the VIN registry. I was wondering how I might be able to contact one of the previous owners (came out of Sarasota, Fl.). Any help would be appreciated...even being told what I should have done:-)). The car goes into the shop for a detailed, look-see Monday. Hopefully, I'll be able to pack it off to Florida for the winter. Many thanks!! peace
I guess you are so excited and I do understand, but a little more info might help. You said it was in the registry, so who owned it before? That might help. Welcome to the club.

Is it this one here
How much may I ask
Doesn't say "sold" though
I nearly attended this auction today but had other commitments
I live in the suburbs close by where this auction was held

I am trying to find previous owner/owners. The car was brought to Mecum's auction from K.C., Mo. "KC Car Connection" and a Steve Levine. He reportedly bought it at auction in Florida. I offered $14000 and was accepted. Add the 8% buyer's fee and we're over $15000.
I don't know enough about how to navigate this site, so finding the VIN in the registry was an accomplishment for me. I didn't see any way to click on the VIN to see who registered it. Appreciate any help on navigating. peace

Sorry Jon. Someone will have to chime in. I had no luck either. Auction to auction, it is hard to tell where it came from. But, the registry should have that info. That is a fair price for a nice roadster. Very few have sold for less. Welcome aboard. Are you planning on keeping it? If so, there is a car club you can join also. www.crossfireinternational.com Your old owner may have been a member there, and more info may be had there as well. Good luck on your search.
Thanks, "oledoc2u"!
We bought it for a "fun" car in Florida while we play "snowbirds". I've looked at more vintage, fun cars (Alfa's, P1800's,...), but unless it was a restored in all ways AND in my price range, I didn't want to get involved in a project...too old. So, I've been leaning more towards creature comforts over cool, vintage.
It'll be a driver while in Florida and then stored away for the summer down there. We have a couple "fun" cars here in Illinois to get us through those long summer months:--).
Whether we keep it to take to Florida will depend upon what my shop has to say about its condition and future issues. I was hoping to buy from an individual (but lost out on a couple), so I could find out if the rear window was replaced and whether the fuel/supercharger issue was dealt with, but no way now when passed through at least 2 auctions:-(. Again, many thanks for the help and info. peace

Congratulations on the find. Try to make it to the Crossfire event at the Tail of the Dragon soon You will find more curves in 11 miles than in the state of Florida and more Crossfires too.
Just returned from a month of driving in the Alps (Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Bavaria). Right now I am tired of driving with both hands on the wheel:-). Just because the guy (or girl) in front doesn't think it's a race, it is! peace
Actually, we kicked quite a few of those cow-pies. We hiked often and many trails led through pastureland before the real accent began. Funny, the cow-pies in Austria looked the same as in Italy and Bavaria. The Swiss cow-pies looked a little "richer". Question about the ride of the SRT-6. It was quite rough! I believe tires are in order, but it rode much rougher than just tires. Do struts go bad early (47000) or is this the ride of MB SLK platform? Our SRT-10 rides much softer! peace

IT'S A SPORTS CAR !
I know it's a sportscar, as I have and had quite a few, but the tires are being replace today and expect major improvement in ride. The shop called and was very pleased with the condition of the Crossfire. Good to know Mecum maintains good standards. The shop couldn't even change the oil (syn) it was so clean:-)).
This time next week, the Crossfire will be at its new home in Florida where top-down weather is the best during the winter months. peace

you will have firmer ride, and road noise on those concrete stretches of road as well. Tires may help, but it is the nature of the roadster, and over time, you will forget about it. My coupe is much quieter, but rides about the same. Enjoy it.....as she is a rare bird.... Everything you need to know about repairs and parts is right here. You just have to do a little searching or just ask....but, keep in mind, during all that help, you will get more than one opinion, but one will be right somewhere in there....lol
Jon, First, Congratulations! Did I read correctly that your new baby came from Sarasota, FL. if so I was not aware of a SSB SRT6 member in our group here in Florida. But there where many that joined here but never come to our get togethes or drives. Will you be bringing her back to Sarasota for the winter?

This has been a great forum before I bought the car and will use it as life goes on. Lots of good info, experience and directness....what more:--)). peace
Ah! After taking the wheels off for tire change, found two rims bent:-((. One front and one rear! So, I'm in the market for rims...anyone have a lead?
I put 2, 225/40ZR-18 Continental ExtremeContact DW XL and 2 255/35ZR-19 Continental ExtremeContact DW XL. The car begins its trip to Palmetto, Fl. tomorrow and will stay in Florida for most of the time. Therefore, I purchased summer only tires (not all-season) and today's ride was quite nice. Definitely a smoother ride than before, but as was said, still a bit rough over uneven roads.
My northern home is Crete, Il., south of Chicago, one mile west of Indiana border. peace
