View Poll Results: Would you like a set of 3.2L Door Sills
Voters: 21. You may not vote on this poll
Limited and Base Door Sills
I have posted an offer for SRT6 door sill covers and have had requests for non SRT6 models.
These will be made of the same durable polyethylene material as my domed replacement badges.
The backing is self adhesive and will fit over the curren "CROSSFIRE" sills, no tools are required and installation takes less than 5 min. Just clean and wipe the aluminum plate with alcohol, let it dry and apply. If you change your mind, they can be removed without damage to the original plate.
The appearance is that of brushed aluminum (like the original) with centered black slanted 3.2 L and a slanted V6 in a reverse aluminum with a red surround. A black strip across the bottom reads " POWERED BY Mercedes Benz". Dimensions are 28" x 1.875" with rounded corners.
Here are pictures of the SRT6 sills

The 3.2L V6 sills will look like this
OR
Price will be $35 USD ea or $60 USD per pair, plus $10 USD S&H to anywhere in the continental US
As an introductory offer, I will also include a pair of smaller 3.2L V6 body badges.
Please take the time to vote on whether you would like a set. I will use this poll to determine if I should go ahead with the order. I do not take money before I know the item is ready to ship, so I will be laying out a sizeable amount in advance.
Thanks

Style wise, the SRT sill is verrrrrry nice indeed. But the N/A one leave me a bit cold.
Since the door sill is a high abrasion area, I would worry how much that clear plastic on your stick-on will scratch over the course of several years on "daily drivers". Probably okay for the "garage queen" cars out there.
Sorry, just my 2 cents, since you asked.

No problem. The material is very durable and is the same heat/cold resistant product that I use for my supercharger badge on the SRT6. It is not a hard plastic it is very "forgiving", the original aluminum trim is also prone to scratching as well. The new sill can be removed, if you want to, without damage to the original.

I am not sure what the base model has there. Does it have an aluminum plate that says "CROSSFIRE" on it, or is it plain black? I would think there would be no problem with the new sills. Look at my pictures of the SRT6 sills in the first post.

I just checked mine. It is a very plain, generic looking rubber panel. There are no logos or inscriptions of any kind. It would be a much better look to have something like what you are proposing. I'd be in if you make them. If you give the dimensions I can check to see if they are the same. Also, if you haven't checked out the base plate it is probably worth looking to be sure it fits on the same way as it would over the limited aluminum plate. The mockup looks pretty slick IMHO.
From the first post "Dimensions are 28" x 1.875" with rounded corners."
Sounds like you have the same ruberized sill but without the aluminum plate, if so there should be an empty oval there.

Looks like this is going to have to wait...only 4 voted for them. I need around 20 to make them reasonable. We'll put it on hold for the time being. The SRT6 sill are arriving next week.

A sizeable amount of money is required to make this happen. I just spent that on the SRT6 sills. Let me get those in and start distribution, then if the reaction warrants it, I will see about the NA Crossfire sills.
Thanks for the encouragement,
Karl

I am sure you will have much more interest once they are in production. The mockup looks lackluster compared to the actual completed SRT badges, but I am sure once produced and installed, they will be a hit for sure, especially with us base guys. I can not justify spending several hundred on lit sills and do not want a limited plate, so this is it.... Please??? LOL
I have a set of used lit crossfire sills on my car but the center of all the R's are missing, I only paid 75 bucks from some guy near me so i dont think it was a bad deal but i was wondering if the light would show threw the new sills you are making? Thanks Adam
No, they are not transparent. Nor are they a hard plastic with a painted clearcoat. These are industrial grade polyurethane. Very durable, heat and scratch resistant. As durable and scratch resistant as the aluminum sills they cover.
I was checking the vote totals and it appears that more interest has been shown. Not everyone liked the proposed design. Now would be a good time to make any other suggestions.
Thanks,
Karl

Karl,
I have yet to be disappointed with anything you have brought to market. Any of these designs look good to me, let me know when and if you will have a timeframe for production.
I would also like to vonunteer to be the base XF tester to make sure everything is the same fitment, if this is necessary....
Thanks.
