Default Black roof!

Just wanted to share, I painted my roof black today!!!
I think it looks great on my graphite crossfire.
I am going to buff it tomorrow and put it back together.
I'll post some pics tomorrow if the weather is good for taking pics.

I just did the top and the two roof filler side strips, I was thinking about doing the hatch and wing too, but I'm not sure yet.
My windows are tinted really dark so it looks cool!!!

This post is nothing new, but would give you some idea what painting the lower hatch may resemble stryfox.
Also, this site has one of the most positive articles on the Crossfire I've ever seen. I can't believe I never came across it before tonight.

I never said it was new, just that it looks good.
It was not new in 1965 either. But it sure looks good too!!!

No, I meant the info that I was posting was nothing new. Not what you did. Just painting the roof should look as good as it did on the original Stealths. Sort of like a glass roof. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product. I was going to ask you if you considered painting the lower hatch area when you posted that you were thinking about doing it. Sorry for the misunderstanding...Mike

It's all good, I'll try to post some pics tomorrow, if time and weather permit.
I thought about doing the hatch, wing and the recessed area around the tag. Still undecided.
The clearcoat flowed out nice but i am still going to sand, cut and polish it. I want it flat with no peel so it will look like glass...
Getting the front and side trim off was a snap, these cars are really built well.

I agree, I think there are a couple of ways to 2-tone these cars. Unfortunately, mine's white, and I don't think it would come off looking as good as the darker colored cars would.
Stryfox, I think it might come out looking pretty cool if you painted the hatch, especially since your windows are tinted dark. Either way you go, it should really stand out.

What color is your interior?
White exterior is always a nice canvas to express yourself.
With Light colors less is more as it will stand out very bold.
If you have a cedar interior you could do accents with multiple colors.
Just a thought...
I could photoshop some ideas for you if you are seriously thinking about it.

Stryfox, my interior is cedar. You don't think there would be too much contrast with an alabaster car?

Mike... I met Dick Teague quite a few years ago at a car show in St. Ignace, Michigan. He was a great guy and very interesting to listen to...very humble man. His designs seemed ahead of their time...did he style the Javelin? Kent

He was responsible for the original idea, I think. As well as the AMX of course. But I believe most of the actual design engineering was attributed to a designer named Chuck Mashigan (Probably misspelled). Who worked on some other notable cars as the 2 seat T Bird, and later model "Birds" as well, Dodges A100 pickups, and the 1963 Chrysler Turbine car, before he came to AMC. Chuck was personally responsible for the Continental spare, and the port hole on the T-Bird. I have always believed that the large circle AMX emblem on the AMX's rear 1/4 panel was a throw back to the Bird's port hole window.
I never had the pleasure of meeting Dick Teague, but as you pointed out, everyone who did always said the very same thing about him, A very nice man, who was a real "car guy".

Two ways... add as an attachment or use the inset image button on the menu above the message box. If you use the second method the picture must be published and have a URL.

Looks great with the graphite, I think the wing would look good black as well.
