Dealer Charged $1,000 For X's Extended Warranty.

 

Nope, no extended warranty for the Crossfire or ANY other product. They are strictly a money maker for manufactures/dealers/stores that sell them. Only a handful of people of people who buy them will ever have to use one. Check with any consumer watchdog group/financial adviser... they will tell you the same thing.

 

too late to check, we got it and i may be part of that handful, since i put on an average of 27,500 miles per year... 36/70/100,000 miles comes up fast...

our last chrysler...PT cruiser... as soon as we hit 37,000 miles, we started to have problems...

It’s hard to say exactly what we paid for the warranty. Our car with the warranty was $29K on April 30, 2004. I think we run out of time before we reach mileage limit since we only averaging about 6K miles a year.

 

I purchased the 100K extended warranty through my credit union when I financed the car. The cost was only $600 to cover the entire car, bumper to bumper.

I know that the dealer charges an amazing amount of money for their warranty, but I thought $600 was reasonable. Of course, my decision was influenced by a friend of mine who had to replace the gauge cluster in his MB CLK430, to the tune of $1,000. One post factory repair and I figure I've gotten my $'s worth out of the warranty.

I put about 20K miles/year on the car and I'll have it paid off and reaching 100K at the same time.
