Default Union Xfires

I was sitting wondering how many of you folks belong to a union? I belong to the IAM Local 1529.
Do more union people have Xfires or more non-union?

I have no union... but I am retired federal.

So that's one for the non-union folks.

There was a time and place for unions during the industrial revolution. That time and place is long gone and the unions today are destroying the cornerstone of their existence (the companies that pay their members). It makes no sense...IMHO.

I also have to say our union is a necessary evil. You can not work where I do, without belonging to the union. But we do make good money for the part of upstate New York where I live. My wife also works at the same place, and the same hours that I do, so we ride together -- saves gas and you how much that means today.

Ditto. So I get all of the credit -- and all of the blame, too.

I own my own business as well and no union at it. If you take care of your employees and treat them as an equal, there will be no Union. I think Unions have a place but it will not be mine. I also agree many business have been destroyed by Unions.

No Union here either. We're an Engineering and Machine build / design firm and feel like we control the world.
Except for gas prices. We'll be working on that next. ... as soon as we figure out which button to push.

I am a member of United Steelworkers Union. But, I am only in the Union because I would not be able to drive anything to work without getting it keyed or the windows broke out.
This is my first and last Union job I will ever have.
Some people say that jobs are leaving the country because of the high wages that union jobs pay. Now that I've seen a union shop first hand, I disagree with that theory. The jobs are leaving because "We" are too damn spoiled and lazy to do our jobs. "We" are being paid $25 per hour to stand around and talk, watch portable DVD players, and even sleep at work. And the union encourages this.
If I ever lose this job I will NEVER work in another union shop!
Sorry if I've offended anyone, But if we don't ALL get off our butts and do our jobs, there will not be any jobs left in the USA.

Thanks for listening,
Rotten
