First Problem with 25 miles...
Well, picked up the new crossfire at 4 pm today...it is now 7:30 and it is sitting in my driveway waiting for a tow truck to come get it tomorrow. We pulled it out of the garage to find about half a quart of auto tranny fluid on the ground. I jacked it up and took a look, come to find the gasket on for the pan has a little kink in it, and it is just oozing right out! Was only able to drive it for 10 miles... any guesses on how long it will take to get the gasket in???
No, it didn't get that far dry...I was able to get it home before then. It has a pan underneath it now and as of five minutes ago, it had about half a cup of fluid.
A fella that I work with (XFire owner also) told me this was a known problem with some cars. He had to have his gasket replaced. He didn't have as dramatic an experience as you have though.
Gees! Sorry. I too am a new owner. I only had to replace a $400 tire before I got home with mine.

My gasket has been changed twice and I believe it is usually on back order. Best thing to do is call the parts department of the dealership and they can tell you how long or if its on back order.
Crossfire Owner calls Chrysler Dealership concerning transmission leak: Hello I had my Crossfire towed in this morning for a transmission leak; do you have any idea when it'll be ready for me to pick it up?
Service Manager Replies: Sorry sir but we have not been able to duplicate the transmission leak you are telling us about, if the leak should reoccur and we can see the leak we will fix the leak, but if we don't see the leak then Chrysler will not allow us to repair the leak on your word alone. Mean time my tech has your car out on the road and I expect he'll be back soon and I'll let you know what we can do for this so called transmission leak.
Crossfire Owner reply: OK so you will call me and let me know? That is fine I saw the leaking fluid and the Tech should be able to see it with no problem. Bye.
10 minutes later Service Manager Calls Crossfire Owner: Sir I spoke with my Tech by cell phone, he is still out driving the car, but he says that he cannot smell or see any transmission leaks; he stated he does not understand Crossfire Owners they are always over reacting to the simplest problems.
At that very moment this is what is happening with the Tech and Crossfire on the test drive looking for the transmission leak.

Hmmm, don't find that picture to amusing...anyway, hopefully they can find a gasket somewhere in the KC area. If no chrysler dealer has it then maybe they will be smart enough to inquire at the local MB dealership. Would hate to have to wait another couple weeks...

Your dealer should have the gasket in less than a week. They stock them at the MB / DC parts depot in New Jersey.
Just question, did you buy a "NEW" Crossfire that had been in storage for a few months ? The best way to tell is by the last 10 digits of your VIN #. It may have sat in a storage facility near the waterfront (sea air) for nearly a year and this could cause all kinds of little quirky problems. gaskets especially...
Awww, well in that case nice chop. Ya, it was through the special employee deal, around here in another thread. Build date was 11/11/04, so yes it has sat around for a year and a half. Good to hear about the gasket, maybe if we are lucky they have one at the dealership!
I believe my car might also have the same issue as yours. Finally picked up the SRT6 today - and on the way home, someone next to me mentions the car is smoking. I pull into a parking lot climb under the car, and see tranny fluid all over the k-frame / bottom of engine / dripping. I"m like you gotta be kidding me!?!? I wait 2 months to get the car, drive it ONE time and now right back into the shop it goes tomorrow...! I'll be putting my comments into the lease car program about this one for sure!
Hope you get yours fixed soon...

Well, after going to the dealer TWICE for the same problem here is my advice to you. They first performed the TSB and replaced a couple o-rings. This TSB supposedly said not to touch the tranny pan gasket, even though i told them that was the problem. Well, so my second trip up there in 24 hours I told them we had the same problem. They ended up replacing the gasket but did not have enough tranny fluid to fill it back up so i had to wait another day. My advice to you is to tell them to replace the gasket in the first place!!! Hopefully, they will cure your problem the first time.
I had this issue it happened at about 1,200 miles. It was 2 o-rings that surrounded a pass through cable. It is also on a TSB. Dealer replaced the o-rings all systems go! I also left about a quart on the ground. I was able to drive to the dealer ship. I now need to take it in for the fan recall and an oil change. I like my dealer and they seem to be very on top of the Crossfire procedures.
Guess I am lucky then cause I picked up car up 2 weeks ago from that employee deal and have not had one problem at all. How can you tell when you car was built again? You look at the vin number but what digits tell you the date?
No dipstick its a sealed unit, in order to check the level they would have to hook it up to one of there monitoring devices at the dealer. Its supposed to be a Lifetime fluid, biggest reason i bought the stick. I had a e320 auto and that always bothered me. the 300 is the same way. People think they are buying american and can take the car for service at the local goodyear dealer. Think again!!!

As for mine (was leaking), it was those 2 o-rings that someone mentioned before. They just performed the TSB and have been driving it ever since. Absolutely love this SRT6...! And we just picked up my wife's, so we have two sitting in the driveway now!
