Re: Highest mileage/problems?
I've been pondering the same thing. I have about 27,000 miles on mine without any major problems. I called the warranty hotline and they quoted me a price of about $1,900 to extend the bumper-to-bumper coverage out to 7/70. I feel that's kind of steep so I'm going to take my chances without it.
Re: Highest mileage/problems?
Extended warranty programs for "any" product are strictly money makers for the company selling it. Only a very small percentage of consumers will ever have to take advantage of one.
Do a google to get different views on the subject.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

The suspension components were damaged do to a faulty sway bar. What annoyed me is early on I complained about a clicking noise when you turned the wheel at low speeds and they dismissed my concerns until the suspension started to wear. They replaced everything a apologized but it just would of cost a fortune. In terms of places replaced they put in new ball joints, idler arm, springs and sway bar.

I'm hoping for a reliable car but I do know that these things have expensive parts and I drive it fairly hard. Should anything fail, it won't take too many items to pay for the warranty.
Like insurance, it may not be needed but sure comes in handy when there's a problem.
Re: Highest mileage/problems?
Since this thread has already gone off topic, I'll add my .02 about extended warranties.
I've never been an advocate of extended warranties for any product. IMO and many consumer advocate organizations also state they are strictly money makers for the companies selling them. Only a hand full of people will ever have to take advantage of their warranties. If you feel comfortable with one, then that's all that counts.
Now, the main reason for this post and something to think about...
...many people are having problems with their dealers, poor service and the lack of DC involvement when problems arise. So, you buy an extended warranty for 7 years/100,000 miles. Does anyone really think they will get better service from their dealers/DC with the extended warranty than they did with the original factory one? Unless you have a dealer that provides super service, I don't think so. I have already found a shop that works strictly on MB automobiles that I plan on using when my warranty runs out.

I've only had mine for about a month. I went to one dealer and they wanted $2,700 for the extended warrenty. Went to another and got the same thing for $1,700. I'm glad I did cuz I figure if something does go wrong it won't be cheap on these cars!
But I do love it!

Re: Highest mileage/problems?
Like most of us, I enjoy driving the car, so I bought the 7/100 extended bumper to bumper, again as previously mentioned, if something goes wrong the parts replacement will be very expensive. Just a little insurance, and it expands my comfort zone when traveling. This is an individual decision, and it depends on how long you plan to keep the car. There is no right or wrong answer to this one.
