At first I did not like the new sebring. I saw it last year at the pilot plant. They made changes to the headlights and incorporated the crossfire hood. I kinda like. It's got the option with the new V6, I think the hp is around 260. The big plus is the revamped interior. In my opinion the interior design of the new sebring is really good. Chrysler in general has come a long way to separate itself from the bland gm an ford style designs. To my knowledge sebring has first to market options in the heated and cooled cupholders. Got to love that. Plus the upgraded entertainment system with storage capability for mp3's. It will definitely sell more units than the prior sebring.

Fuzz...you make a good point. There aren't a lot of cars that can really be judged well through photos. My Crossfire is an obvious exception. But even then, my choice of color was thrown off by the web...it makes the Sapphire Silver Blue look much bluer...and the Aero Blue much bluer. In the end...photos should start our desire...and final decisions must be done in person.

A Sebring line without a convertible would be a huge mistake on DC's part. It is the number one convertible after all. And a hard top you say... sounds interesting...

I absolutely agree. If DC drops the Sebring convertible my days of married bliss are close to over. I'll have to buy a fleet of the current model so that I have a ready stock of gently used vehicles available for my wife, who won't drive anything else. In the meanwhile l need to start checking on her interest level in hardtop convertibles...although technically, I don't think a ragtop and a removable hardtop are in the same category.

From what I've read in the posts to this thread - everyone seems to be concerned with the looks of the car, how close to the xfire is it, the back is ugly, what is the effect on my car etc.

My perspective is that is has only the slimmest of threads connecting it to the xfire. It is a Sebring, right? same old 3.5, front wheel drive thing they've been selling for years? So they restyled it, adding styling cues to the front end that look like our car.

Personally, I don't see any way it could/would impact our cars.

You guys are making it more than it is. Chill, or better yet, go for a drive in your Crossfire.

Cheers,

Henry

I owned a Sebring LTD and hated that car with a passion... Lack of pick-up, poor handling in turns, bad vibration in the front end over 55 MPH, leaks in the seals - the only good thing that car had going for it was that it was beautiful on the outside 0 Sapphire blue with cream interior.

Now that I have my Crossfire, I can tell you that no matter what they do to the Sebring, there is nothing they can do to it that would come close to our cars!

I know there are some people in this thread that are passionate about their Sebrings and I do not mean to offend any of you... Its just a matter of been there done that...

While I agree with almost everything that you've said, I have to place myself in the Sebring fan...though not passionate category. My wife is in the passionate category. You can say anything...I know I'm not offended. The car screams for at least the Chrysler 3.5L. My wife's has the 2.7L and it is woefully underpowered...exactly the way my wife likes it. It used to handle poorly in turns until I traded the
stock Michelins for Yokohama Avid T4s. After that I thought the car drove itself. No problems with seals or front end vibration...except when the font axle joint almost wore through. It's been the best car for my wife, who is so passionate that she didn't feel the vibration in the front... Until I forced her to take it in...abd they advised that she has maybe 50 miles before the right axle would've buckled.

Anyway...what makes me love the Sebring is it was the car that converted me to the Chrysler family. I never had the slightest interest in Chryslers...until my wife named the Sebring as her dream car. So while the Sebring isn't a Crossfire...in my case I own a Crossfire all because of a Sebring. They are still beautiful cars...and I hope they continue to be the leading convertible in America.

14th August 2006

Chrysler's forthcoming Sebring saloon is to join the convertible fold - with a new coupé-cabrio version.

It's part of a range of changes from DaimlerChrysler, which also sees a butch Dodge arrive in the same sector within 12 months. And both of the US models will use Volkswagen's acclaimed 136 bhp 2.0-litre TDI diesel in their line-ups.

Auto Express can confirm the new Dodge saloon will be called Avenger, and is set to be a sportier alternative to the Sebring. Its public debut is expected at the Paris Motor Show next month.

The Dodge draws inspiration from the Charger muscle car of the Seventies, and will also use 2.0-litre and 2.4-litre petrol engines. Both the Chrysler and Dodge models will be priced between £17,000 and £19,000.
