Crossfire giveaway!
All,
I saw on a commercial this afternoon that Papa John's pizza was giving away a new Chrysler Crossfire. I'm not sure if that is good or bad? Have our cars been relegated to "giveaway" status? Will this exposure increase the public's awareness of the car? Only time will tell.

Any exposure is great exposure. I think Papa Johns has done Chrysler a favor b/c Chrysler didn't do a quarter of the advertising for the Crossfire that it did for the Chargers, 300s and Magnums. G35, Z350 and Mustang owners across the country just screamed and cowered. They're worrying about the word getting out b/c they are constantly getting eaten by the baddest damn, two seater on the market every day. And now a major "pie" joint is giving one away. Oh my goodness. Represent well XF Owners and Papa Johns.
There was an ad on the TV last night...
Some guy is asking the head man at Daimler (Dr. Z I think they call him) what the benefits were of the merger between Chrylser & Daimler.
Dr. Z takes him in a few cars, it shows and mentions quite a few of their product, but not even a sniff of the Crossfire.

it's good for papa john's because there are always a few consumers that purchase things hoping to win a prize. throw in a sports car giveaway into your regular commercials and you have nothing to lose.
it's good for chrysler because they can get some value for their advertising. giving away crossfires is cheaper than traditional advertising (which was proven not very successful). i would argue that the crossfire has been relegated to giveaway status by chrysler due to overproduction.
just about the only people it isn't good for are those that already own a crossfire. 99% of the people who would consider owning a 2-door sports car are aware of the crossfire. that's why tv advertising is of limited benefit to chrysler. when's the last time you saw a commercial for a z4, boxster, s2000, etc.?

Reminds me of the A-10 Thunderbolt 2. Almost as soon as they got them in the Air Force the Generals wanted to get rid of them. Pilots liked them though.
la calle 105.9 fm (reggaeton radio station) in the NYC (tri-state) area is giving away a "2006" (has to bemistake in their radio ad) xfire in conjunction with Major Auto of Long Island City...
Plus I think Hershey's was auctioning a xfire with candy wrappers or something... (mentioned elsewhere in the forums)...
