Just to let everyone know, I received the illuminated door sills and tried an experiment. I tried getting them to light up green by placing a piece of yellow cellophane over the EL strip. It didn't quite work. Even with a few layers, the best I could get was a bluish green that did not have enough brightness. The sills were not difficult to take apart. The metal strip is secured to the sill using double sided tape around the whole plate. The EL strip is secured using the same sticky stuff that hold removable inserts in magazines. If anyone wants to experiment, go for it and let us know how it comes out.

 

You can typically find green EL panels or EL tape on ebay for really cheap (under $20 incl. shipping). Most of the tape that I've found operates on 12v and can be cut into strips. I figure it would look pretty good just to and place it over the indigo EL panel in the illuminated sills.
