Default Squeaky Suspension

Well apparently I haven't posted anything for a while, so I might as well bring up an issue that I have been having for quite a while.

After I turn off my car and I am getting out, the suspension squeaks like it needs to be lubed. Do you think the dealer will lube the suspension as a "warranty" item, or will I have to pay for it as a "service" issue?

It is a bit embarrassing to get out of a nice sports car and it squeaks like an old Chevy.

If the squeak is from the rear its probably the handbrake cable rather than the suspension. You can confirm it by leaving the car in gear and leaving the handbrake off before getting out. (obvious you should put the handbrake on afterwards though).

That's great advice, I'm going to try that next time. It is very likely the problem, because I always put the hand brake on when I park.

$50 says it is the parking brake.
Let us know.

Its a good thing we didn't shake on it. It WAS the parking brake linkage that was causing the squeak. I'll have to put that on the laundry list of things for the dealer to fix/adjust/lube.

Woody hit it on the head, its the park brake. No need to worry, take off park brake when you leave and squeak goes away.

I had the same problem...and if you release the parking brake...the squeak goes away. Just took my car in to the dealer for this problem. He lubed the cable to the parking brake...but that did not solve the problem. The problem resides behind the rear driver side tire...its the clamping mechanism that needs to be lubed and adjusted...so rear tire needs to come off.

My car does this also- it is the emergency brake cable on my car.

mine is squeaking right behind me but is def. somewhere near rear wheel, does it with handbrake on or off driving down the road only, not just shaking the car around.

Try moving your seat up. Make sure it is not the back of the seat rubbing the rear bulkhead first.
the noise can be supriseingly missleading.

Clamping mechanism, handbrake cable etc. Anyone know if possible to lube them yourself? Pls help. The sound came after having changed from winter to summer tyres.

I have been having the same noise, I bet it is my E-brake cable as well. Something so simple, and it never crossed my mind. I guess there is merit in having 1,000's of minds contemplating the same issue

While driving my ‘05 SRT6 yesterday, I got within a mile of my house when all of a sudden I had smoke in my rear wheels and both brakes started to seize. I drove the “last mile” dragging the car and accompanying smoke home and let the rear wheels cool off. This morning I decided to replace rotors and pads, and when I went to remove the rotor, it wouldn’t release from the hub. After I pried it off I saw the emergency brake calipers were extended and did not fully withdraw with the emergency brake disengaged.
I think it may be the linkage, but never haven’t worked on this before is it something I can do or do I need to have my baby towed into my service shop?

Hello and welcome! It is usually frowned upon posting the same thing in two forums (let alone regurgitating an almost 16 year old thread). It usually gets multiple posts in the two (already, this reply) places for the same issue resulting in co-confusing troubleshooting/assisting. Good luck with the brakes!
