Thumbs up A few XFire questions from a new owner.

Hi everyone. I've been the proud owner of my Crossfire for the last two weeks, and I have a few questions for the veteran owners.

1. How do you pause the playback of a CD?? I just can't figure this one out.

2. Pulling the headlight switch out activates the foglights. But that's only the first detent. You can pull it out again to the second detent. Nothing happens when I do that. Is there a reason why there are two detents?

3. I'm missing the air compressor for my TIREFIT system. Is there a place I can buy it, or should I just keep searching E-bay until one turns up? Speaking of tires, is there ANY WAY to fit a spare tire back there? Has anyone ever used TIREFIT? Thoughts?

4. Those two clips on the bulkhead, above the leather pocket... are they for something in particular?

5. Why is the traction control symbol painted (?) onto the gauge cluster? Maybe it's not painted, but it's there... is there a reason why I have to look at it all day?

Thanks, guys and gals.

PS. You guys have no idea how thrilled I am that the only "issues" I have are insignificant minutia.

~ this is for a european rear fog light... we don't have these in the US. so it does nothing.

~ i would continue to check ebay... they pop up from time to time via a salvage yard.

~ as for a spare... it would have to lay in the cargo area... i carry a tire plug kit (as many others do).

thegoalie...

here is a tire fit set-up for a bmw... they are all nearly the same size & content. it should fit in the cargo hole under the carpet. worth a bid imo.

Thanks, Drew. Can I call you Drew? The air compressor is worth a bid, you're right. And I'm going to head over to the auto parts store sometime and pick up tire plugs, great idea.

I've never plugged a tire before, but it seems much easier than messing with the TIREFIT.

Since I've only had my Xfi for a couple of months, I guess I did'nt know about the tirefit. Does one come with the car? Should it look similar to the BMW one on ebay?

Never mind, I just did an inventory of all that's in my trunk, and I see that the car does come with one. I'll buy a tire plug kit as well. There is an empty slot (cubby hole) in the trunk towards the right. Should something be there?

To pause the CD press TP. You couldn't figure that out? Actually the radio is a bit screwy. It is the same logical thought process that says that RP is for shuffle CD. I should give Becker a break. It's likely that these obscure abbreviations make more sense to the Germans.

The owners manual has a complete, albeit vague, instructions for the radio/CD. Also check out various post on this board. There are also several PDF files, etc. online. Check links in postings or do a Google search.

I thought that the cubby on the right was for the first aid kit. Didn't I read that on this forum?

stlouistrucker and stryfox you are both correct according to what I have read on previous threads. Supposedly the European Crossfires come with a roadside kit which contains a triangle, flares, and a first aid kit. I have seen them on eBay a few times that came in a bag with MB emblem on it.

Not to put to fine a point on this but the hole doesn't seem to have a purpose as far as we can tell. Check out this thread and scroll down to the Swiss guy's post.

By the way, I have a M-B 320 First Aid Kit I would like to sell if any one is interested. I paid about $10 for it on eBay before I found a Crossfire kit. PM me if you would be interested. Shipping wouldn't be much Priority Mail. It's light.

I'm in Australia and mine came with the triangle, first aid kit but no flares- mine was a demo so they may have gone missing at the dealer.
