SRT-6 would have = CITATION
SRT-6 would have = CITATION
I learned something today, I'm not mature enough to own an SRT-6, because if I would have been driving one, (instead of my '04 - 6spd.) I have no doubts that I would have been the recipient of a triple digit citation today.
I was traveling West on Rt. 224 today at a brisk pace (because my van broke down in my driveway, and made me late for work) when a brand new bright yellow Mustang GT convert glued himself to my tail. Now we all know how the Crossfire "draws" other cars to it like a magnet, and even though this guy was well into his mid 60's he too fell under the XF's hypnotic spell and couldn't resist playing "cat & mouse" with me as I threaded my way thru slower traffic.
Really all the guy wanted to do was prove to me that he could get around me because his car is faster than mine, and naturally I wasn't going to let that happen until we got to a spot where the road opens up to 3 lanes with a 60 mph limit.
When I finally reached that point I took the Crossfire up to 80 and moved over to the middle lane and tucked in behind some other cars that were traveling about 75. Of course he took the opportunity and blasted by me at about 85 or 90 (with his wife smiling at me as they went by) for about 6 car lengths and then he backed out of it. That's the way we stayed for the next mile and a half crusin about 75 or 80 mph with several other cars in a 60 mph zone.
We go under a bridge (S. Main St) and sitting on the ramp are 7 Akron police cars waiting for us. I'm still in the middle lane doing about 70 now, and the Mustang is in the right lane doing the same. Two patrol cars pull out as we go by and I figure I'm toast, but then they both blow right past me, and pull the Mustang and a Monte Carlo over. I think to myself "MERRY CHRISTMAS" to me.
Why I didn't get nailed I'll never know, but I do know if I had been driving an SRT, I would have been well over 100 mph in about the same time it took me to reach 80, and I know I probably would have stayed in it a little longer just to embarrass the Stang.
