rotex gold brake pads ... a great xmas gift ... to a dust free life
i had recommended brakeworld.com for pads in the past.
i have now found another supplier with better pricing... buybrakes.com and they are offering a special thru december 31st ... ($10 off your order)...
price comparison:
brakeworld: $85 (fronts)
buybrakes: $78.48 (fronts) + $10 off = $68.48
thought i would pass along the info...
part number needed: d9740d (listed under m/b)

I just could not stand the tremendous amount of dust the stock pads produced. I put the Rotex Gold on and saw a nice improvement. I still get a noticeable amount of dust after about 300 miles but I do a lot of mountain driving where you have to ride the brake a lot. I think it's a dollar well spent!

Andrew aka Santa.
Thanks for the heads up. I've been wanting to get a set for the front to cut down on the dust for some time now and I just could not pass on a chance to save $10 bucks, So I just placed an order. Merry Christmas to my Crossfire. And to you!

Andrew, while I've got your attention... I know you're the cleanliness guru. When waxing the car, do you use masking tape on the rubber trim to avoid contact?

see link: (napa even sells it) http://www.meguiars.com/estore/produ...ectionID=31502
the application method also makes a difference... my method:
moisten a foam applicator pad... apply wax to one panel at a time & remove immediately while still wet with a micro fiber towel. you only need a small amount of even wax coverage on the panel... more is not necessarily better... just messier & harder to work with...
cheers!
Re: rotex gold brake pads ... a great xmas gift ... to a dust free life
Just put Akebono ceramic on all 4 corners of my Xfire (Tire Rack). Went with ceramic instead of Rotex because I have experience with ceramics and have liked their performance and, as everyone else here, hated the dust from the stock pads. Took about 2 hours to replace the pads on all 4 corners, very simple and easy. Short drive disclosed no less performance and maybe more (hard to judge) and no noise. I'll update later on dust and any other performance or noise issues. Completely cleaned the wheels while they were off and put on a nice, fresh coat of wax (they look cleaner than they ever have...sweet)... the ceramic pads have every chance to succeed.
