Default Help!!

Hello All,

I just bought a 2004 crossfire coupe.

This has been my dream car since I saw a concept model of it. I can finally afford it and I am excited.

One problem I have is when I press the left stick that stick out of the gauge cluster I get the two wrench symbol and then a dash and 5,900. Does that mean that the previous owner is 5,900 miles over due on the double wrench service?

Thank you for all the help. Also any one with and helpful tips would be great, my cause the autostick 5 spd.

Hopefully I will get pictures soon.

That's the same reason I bought mine!

Don't worry about the service indicator. It is telling you that you have 5,900 miles until you need Service B.

Thanks for the relief. I checked and it said 5,900 and then I drove to lunch and went 5 miles or so, I came back and i check before I went back to my office...still 5,900... Shouldn’t it be 5,895??

It might not update in 5 miles. I'm not sure what increments it tracks. Maybe 100 miles.

Thank you so much FP. I am still a little paranoid about the car... expect more questions.

Don't worry about it ...the wrench thing still bugs me too and I have had the car since last April.

Don't forget to read the entire owners manual two times, it can answer a lot of your questions, and if you have the time download the repair manual off forum. It can answer almost everything you might be wondering about in the future.

I beg to differ from the previous posts that say you are approximately 5,900 miles away from needing your next B service. The "dash" you mention in the display is a negative sign, meaning you are 5,900 past due. As such, you should see the number increase (not decrease) as you continue to drive.

I believe the actual number of miles does indeed seem to round off in 100 mile increments. The rate at which it computes the miles is not always the same with each car and/or driver. It seems to take into account driving habits and adjusts accordingly.

Oops! Really sorry, I missed the 'dash' in your post. In that case Midnightman is correct. The other problem is that the dealer doesn't always reset the indicator. In which case I would get at least an oil and filter change, but preferably a full service B performed and make sure that the indicator is reset. Apart from the oil and filter change service B is mainly inspection stuff you can do yourself anyway, although at higher mileages there are extras like plugs and air filters to change. The exact schedule for A and B services is in the back of the Owners Manual. If you don't have it here's a link to C_Plunkett's post where you can download it.

I have summarised the scehdules in the attached PDF if it helps.
