Hello!
Picked up my '04 FX Coupe (LTD) on Monday; I am lovin' life...
This thing rocks! Even for a "Base Model Spec".
Kudos to the membership... Reading through a lot of the posts on this forum I am almost as excited to join the website as I am to own the car.

Looking forward to hearing about the newbie's experiences in the hottest car on the road! Yeppers, still in love with my car after 14 months of ownership and a little more then 14K miles.

Thank you for the welcome... I got it for $16,900 from out local Pontiac/Cadillac store... Only 30,500 Miles I feel like I stole it!
And they gave me more than I owed on my VW... Hell of a trade IMO...

Rhacker, sounds like you got a sweet deal. I'm sure you'll enjoy it! BTW, regarding your sig. In 2004 there were only two kinds of Crossfires: Coupe & Roadster. The base/limited distinction didn't come along 'til 2005.
Hey Bob in Richmond,
Greetings!
About the sig: I sort of realized that when I wrote it...
Thus the parenthesis around the LTD: "(LTD)"...
I do have the standard (COUPE) self dimming mirror... ;-)
Maybe, I'll change it do avoid further scrutiny...
What's V-1?

And still after a little over 15 months and 10K miles, I still love mine as much as the day I drove it off the lot. Maybe even more.
Welcome to "club". Enjoy!
Thanks for the hardy welcome to one and all... Can't wait 'til spring to do a few weekend drive-in.
I have a question that maybe some of the more "knowledgables" can answer:
Is the Crossfire an import?
I know the country of origin is technically the US according to the vin number... But the assembly in Germany must give it import status of some kind...?? Right?

As I understand it they started making the Coupe in '03 as the '04 model with few options available. Then for the '05 model year the Roadster and the Coupe were both offered both in a base model and LTD trim levels. ...And, of course the SRT6 joined the pack...
Ah yes the coveted Valentine... I should have guessed... Tell me, living in Virginia have any State Police bothered you with it?
I always take my cheapy Bel and throw it in the glove box when driving through VA...

Welcome to the forum, you'll love your car and all the great info you'll find here. As a pretty new member myself, I advise you to go through past threads and find out as much as you can about your new Xfire, especially the Technical Service Bulletins that apply to the '04 model. Our car has a great pedigree being based on the MB SLK 320, built in Germany by Karman Coachworks and wearing maybe the nicest skin on the road.
I'm wondering, since Binghamton gets winter like we do in Toronto, are you planning on driving in the snow?

Hello arkady from Toronto (One of my favorite cities),
No, I don't plan on driving it in the snow... I think this car may be a keeper for posterity. The previous owner was a Doctor who had it garaged most of the time and he kept it completely stock (except for the Cooper "Zeon" Tires which I will be changing -- probably later this summer). Thankfully, this has been one warm winter so far, but we do usually get more snow this side of the lake (I used to live in Rochester, NY - 5 blocks from the lake - hellish winters sometimes).
I had my Dad drive the XF yesterday and now he wants one:
"It's more fun to drive and faster then my [2002] Thunderbird. I should have one," he said. And, he is a BIG FORD NUT - his collection proves this... I wager, those words were difficult for him to say... LOL.
Anyway I am wondering about our import status -- you see every spring there is an Import and Kit Car Show in Carlisle, PA. It would be a good place for Crossfire owners to congregate share ideas, show off mods (or not) and have a barbecue. I don't see why we couldn't show there because the Fiero owners do (but maybe more for the 'Kit' status). SAAB has taken the attendance record for the pass 2 or 3 years with I think with around 150-200 cars on display...
Food for thought...

To your "Import" question. The car is made in Germany with parts mostly made in Germany, and is imported from Germany. Hence, I would think it's an import. But I don't know what is the official ruling to tag a car as "import". There are some MB made in the USA. Are they considered imports together with all the Japanese cars made in the US?
