Question Factory Alarm

So I was wondering if the factory alarm was really an alarm...I armed the car and opened the door and, yep...it went off.
Anyone know of a way to make the car chirp or honk when you lock and arm the car???

Well if you have any hearing left, then yep it's an alarm.

If you want the car to chirp or something you'll need to buy an aftermarket alarm.

You'll have better luck to get the alarm programmed by your local Mercedes dealer, don't waste your time with the Chrysler dealer.

Went the Chrysler Dealer today and Tech was really busy. He said he will do it monday at no charge and would take 5 min to do. He also owns a crossfire and said he did the same thing. I showed him the previous post about the Netherlands thing and he said it was correct. Woohoo.

If you get your factory alarm to chirp when armed and disarmed, PLEASE POST. We have been told in the past that it can't be done.

Wow, your super lucky to even find a Chrysler Mech, that even owns a XF let alone knows how to work on it. Very cool!

I had the alarm speaker replaced at the local 5 Star dealership. It chirps now. Three times when I lock the car and once when it is unlocked. I had a bad speaker and they replaced it under the warrenty.

Interesting! Do you know if your alarm ever worked before the speaker replacement? Have you ever set it off?

The alarm kin of worked before I had it replaced. It went off as it was supposed to but at very low level noise. It sounded like a cricket on crack. You could tell that the speaker was blown. When they replaced it, it chirps when activated/deactivated. And the alarm is definitely working and loud.

By the way, don't forget to post about the chirp, I wanna chirp... Give us the dealer's name along with the tech's name so I can find out how.

OBD Computer

main menu
... |
-- EDW (is the control unit for the alarm system)
... |
... -- variant coding
... |
... -- country setting: rest of the world
... -- alarm siren instead of alarm horn
... |
... -- Netherlands setting
... -- volume
... |
... -- 2% (how powerful the chirp should be)
... -- 4%
... -- 6%

This what the Tech Said should work, as far as re-programming the ECU. I have an appointment Monday @ 0830. I will let you all know how it goes.

I don't see how a new speaker will make a difference. Let us know what happens.

Here is confirmation #2. Just got back from picking up my 2005 Crossfire from Huffines Chrysler in Plano, TX. I had a few things repaired under warranty...flaking paint on console and my alarm siren had begun to make the above referenced "cricket on crack" sound. My alarm had worked in the past, and never beeped or chirped when armed or disarmed. I get my car back today and I now have 3 very soft beeps when armed and 1 soft beep when disarmed. Very Cool...I cannot give the tech's name that worked on my car because I do not know it, but someone at Huffines Chrysler 972-867-6000 knows how to make it work. I do see on my service order that the alarm siren 1028006, FP number 5124443-AA was replaced. I do not know if those numbers will help, but I can confirm that my factory alarm now beeps/chirps when armed and disarmed.

Good Luck All with getting yours to work too!!!
