Two interesting situations cam up on my way home tonight...

First, while waiting at a traffic light, a woman in a beater pulled up next to me and started giving the thumbs up to me. She yells through her passenger window asking what kind of car it is, and I said it was a Crossfire. She then yells out how good I look in it. I modestly reply that ANYONE looks good in one of these cars. She insists that I look especially good in it. The light changed and off I went (it should be noted that this woman was no beauty queen by far).

A half hour later, I was at the grocery store. I saw an attractive girl in one of the aisles as I shopped, but all she gave me the slightest disinterested return glance. (The norm). As I was driving out of the parking lot, there she was, exiting the store and walking across the front side of my car. As she passed, her eyes were fixed on me, and as I drove by, she gave me a devilish smile.

The latter story truly confirms the theory of looking better behind the wheel of a Crossfire.

 

I know. It happens the say way to me but I think the 2nd girl was smiling at your car, not you.

 

Yes, but you have the advantage of being 19 years old, and hopefully still have all your hair.

After first noticing the car, her eyes were clearly fixed on mine.

Let's just say that the car broke the ice.

 

Cool Story Midnight Man. I got one. I was driving today to get something for lunch and this car pulls up next to me with this guy and girl in it. They pulled a little head of me so I can see perfectly in their car.

I just happened to look over and the girl in the passenger seat is smiling and she waves at me. The guy that is driving pushes what must be his girlfriends arm down and gives me a dirty look. He speeds away really fast like I cut him off or something. I didn't do anything. I didn't even wave back! Geez.

 

Romio, I'm going to have to disagree. The ladies look longingly at the Crossfire, but they smile at the driver.

 

I hate to be my typical cynical self... But look at Donald Trump and his current 25 y/o wife. Do you think she would be spreading her legs if he drove a Miata and worked at Walmart ?

Women think you're ADONIS if you have a big bank account, and the Crossfire looks like a million bucks !!!

its so true... i had to start dressing better and get a $600 dollar set of rayban prescription glasses (frameless ... so nice) cause the Xf said i was making it look bad ... i'd see it all over, women stare at it and then they look in and saw my not so fancy glasses and plain t-shirt and jeans guy wardrobe and frowned as in "how could that be driving that" ... well, a set of pricy glasses, trendy jeans (i threw away my old levis... it was time) and some nicer t-shirts and bam presto... trendy t-shirt and jeans guy is back and now the stares are properly followed up with a look inside that does not disappoint...

hmm, come to think of it... thx Xf ! you make me dress better... hahaha.

and yes i am joking ... i could care less what others think of the way i dress so long as they know i bust my *** to do what i do well to afford what i drive but it does make me dress better really.

 

I think you are EXACTLY right hddp...it is funny because my girlfriend and I were just talking about that last night. We were saying how these rich old farts get their beautiful girlfriends isn't because of their good looks...it is their bankroll of course. These gals are nothing but arm candy anyway. If you have an expensive looking car you WILL get the looks...my goodness look at Donald Trump...he is frankly a goofy looking guy but hey he has got billions and that is all that counts.

 

Well after reading all this I thinks it's safe to say that I'm in trouble. I already have to beat them off with sticks and I'm cruising around in a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis! I guess being a handsome 22 year old research scientist doesn't hurt either, lol.

 

Funny... they look at me kinda funny when I drive my SRT6 down to get something from the hardware store or auto parts place. Granted, I'm usually wearing black jeans and a ratty old black sweat shirt along with a black Summit baseball cap on backwards...

I have noticed women that look at the car (and me sometimes) in rush hour traffic. We're all are doing the stop and go thing and I glance around because, well, I'm bored. Every now and then I'll catch the look of a very nice looking lady in a vehicle next to me. They usually stare at the car and grin when they notice I'm looking back.

The vehicles have ranged from Mercedes, to Chevy... so I think it's not just he money part as it's also the classy style of the car. It shows a unique sophistication that other cars can't hope to match.

 

i'm the same way, im usually doing some handyman work around the house or painting so people really give me the double look, 24 year old kid with his super fancy car (they don't know im only paying $279/mth. on my lease) in dirty, raggidy clothes constantly going in and out of lowe's. maybe when i finally fix up my crappy house i'll be able to dress the part. but when im in my work attire i definately get some looks. i think i got more in my grand cherokee though.

 

i'm a full-time college student. i experience the same situations y'all are discussing everyday. don't get noticed until the parking lot. then i really get 'em. the second you start the car around a bunch of people, hit both your windows and your spoiler (sorry for the srt-6ers) simultaneously. it looks like your car does a mini-transformation. i've gotten a lot of looks by doing this. it's as though the car's got it's own mind and knows what you want.

But I agree with all that's been written thus far. The car does make heads turn in our direction regardless of age. And if it makes me look good and the ladies are looking ... so be it!

I'm not sure it's money they are thinking about. Women like sexy cars, and a sign you're not a total loser. The XF is just a very attractive car. It catches the attention of women, men and children.
