Windows down in coupe
Has anyone driven @ 40+ MPH in the coupe with both windows all the way down?
When I do I feel like the whole cabin is vibrating. Its not really windy but more like
a pulsating feeling.
Doesn't feel like it has in other cars, really strange.
Anyone else experience this?

yep mine does the same... very annoying... it will also do it with just one window down... no where for the wind escape when entering the cabin... creates a wind buffeting noise.
even my 330i does this when just the sunroof is open... at certain speeds... manufactures attempt to aid with a pop up deflector...
a common issue with most cars but the crossfire is by far... the worst i have experienced.

Howdy,
Yes I know what you mean. I was actually alarmed the first time it happened. I thought a tire had come apart or something. Something about the size/shape of the windows. Oddly enough, my wife's Jeep Liberty is really bad with the windows down at 35-40 mph. I think it has a lot to do with how the airflows around the "A"-pillars and mirrors. Remember "vent-wings"; I bet if we had 'em the problem would be solved. I've owned a number of sixties vintage two door hard-top muscle cars with the little triangular vent windows and NONE of them ever displayed the throbbing/thrumming air flow. I also have a Cherokee with "vestigial" fixed vent windows and it does not exhibit the problem either.
I know they are "old fashioned" but hey, those little "vent-wings" really did work...
Slim

I love driving with the drivers side window down because I enjoy the sound of the Crossfire's motor so much. (I hardly ever listen to the radio).
When the wind buffeting starts, I just crack open the passenger side window (less than an inch) and that seems to take care of it.
As Andrew pointed out, this is the worst car that I've owned for this problem.
Still, it's a small price to pay when you consider all the other advantages.

Our '04 Kia Rio wagon will do the 'buffetting' thing if one rear window is down-I believe it is actually more of a vacuum caused by the air flow outside the car-but it makes your ears pop etc-hugely annoying in that car, so the bit that our SRT does doesn't bug me too much (I guess due to conditioning)!!
I constantly drive with the driver's side window down, the buffeting only occurs occasionally. I'm guessing it has to do with which way the wind is blowing and/or other circumstances.
I, too, experience what I have heard referred to as "waffling." If you think the XF is bad you should experience my Pacifica. It will break eardrums!
I also eliminate the waffling sound and "feeling" by adjusting other windows. I've begun to think it's a Chrysler Thing.

Someone needs to come up with a mod to make the small (triangular) windows behind the driver and passenger windows open like the old fashioned vents. An opening like the very back windows of minivans would be perfect. Anyone here that mechanically inclined...I'm not.
I wonder if the XF Roadster owners experience the same buffeting noise when they cruise with the window down, and the top up? Or is it just a coupe related malady.

Wonder if it has anything to do with too much Jimmy Buffet?
Easy fix...open your sunroof, I haven't found that button yet but it used to work in my PT!?!?

My PT is worse unless you crack open a rear window.
There is a flap in the hatch area on the crossfire to relieve pressure when closing the doors. Maybe it could be made bigger to reduce the noise. Not sure if it would work but it is an idea.

when i had my '92 corvette...
an aftermarket rear hatch extended latch vent was available to pass the air through to the slightly ajar back glass... aiding with the buffeting problem...
but never bought it... didn't prefer the end look.
