Default Base model upgrades

I have a '06 base model, black (of course) and it's certainly without frills, but still a great car. I noticed the hood has clips in the underside for what I think is an insulating blanket (like my Audi A6 has). Does the limited model have insulation here, and if so, is it available in a sheet of material to fit in my car?

Second, I'm trying like mad to keep from scratching the car - just used a good quality wax on a small section of the rear bumper (clean surface, clean applicator, very light pressure, micro towel dry-off) and I left scratches! I read some good information on body care and what wax and polish to use, but didn't see anything about the bumpers-any thoughts?

Third, the clips behind the seats on the separation "wall" - are they for a specific use? To hang a storage bag or clothes hangar? Thanks!

I believe the Limiteds do have an insulating blanket. I know my SRT6 does.
Forum member Andrew is the car care guru, perhaps he will chime in on your bumper issue.
The clips between the seats are umbrella holders (I believe).

Black is a very hard color to take care of. Check out the detail section of the forum, Tons of great info there. I have a black car myself and I treat the bumpers the same as the rest of the car.

Black paint is hard to detail.
It makes you look like a "HERO or o HACK".
Take your time and learn how to take care of it.
The limited has an insulator under the hood.
The clips are for umbrellas.

Thanks gents. I'll see if the insulator blanket can be purchased separately and installed - I plan to use the umbrella holder/clips to hang an additional piece of luggage - small bag for a trip we're planning.

I think he's talking out the clips that hold the insulation under the hood.

And the clips on the bulkhead are not for umbrellas but for your baseball hat.

Here are the part numbers you would need for adding the insulation.

5097483AA- qty 1 Insulation, Hood
6104900AB- qty 13 RIVET, Insulation To Hood

buy some skittle-6 seats for it ... the base seats poke the crap out of my back ... seems they where designed for shorter than average ... but then again my girl is short and the headrest is in the wrong place. so maybe it was designed by a committee of one short guy and one tall guy.

I probably should know this, but what is the main purpose insulating the hood ? Keep heat in, keep heat out, or sound deadening? Just curious...

I believe it's both - my A6 had it - the hood surface did not get hot and the motor was dead silent.

You are probably right and now you have me thinking that it might be worth adding. I have a base model too and so far the only thing I have changed is the door sill plates, the ones from the limited brightened it up a lot. We go to Niagara Falls several times a year, maybe we will catch up to you sometime.
