Default Newbie

Hi all. Just joined the forum. Recently purchased a relatively low mileage 2007 base convertible in red metallic. Has 15 spoke wheels that I have not seen on another Crossfire.

They appear to be original.

You are describing the "Special Edition" roadster. I bought mine this summer (my third roadster but first SE/Base).

The SE is a Base Roadster with those wheels, red paint, and an optional automatic transmission. The SE is, I do believe, the rarest sub-model of Crossfire. Because it's numbers are buried in the "Base" numbers, the actual number of these cars built is not known. Out of 56 cars set to go to this weekend's Dragon event, two will be SE's. For the SE, I believe that is a record Dragon attendance.

Thanks pizzaguy. I had been told this by an acquaintance but didn't think much of it. So glad you set the record straight. Apparently I got quite a rare car.

Take care.

I've been trying to figure out how many were made for four years (even tho I have only owned an SE for two months)... With about 1,000 SRT Roadsters out there, based on how many SRT Roadsters I have seen and now many SEs, I'd say about 250 SEs were built.

BUT, I am sure that is wrong - I'm guessing the number is SOME number under the 1000 for the SRT Roadster.

ODD FACT, Chuk in Florida wants my wheels for his SRT. If you look closely, the SEs wheels appear to be SRT-like, but with Gray or Graphite paint that the SRTs don't have.

Yup, a special little car from among the 77,000 special cars that are the Crossfires.

YOu know, you COULD show up and make it a record-breaking THREE SEs at an event........

Back on topic - Welcome and enjoy your Crossfire!

Where are you in NJ? - I grew up in North Jersey.

If this site is accurate, %7.5 of 2006 and %11.5 of 2007 are SE, all red, all manual.

I have been looking stuff up on that site for a while, I should have shared earlier. There is a lot buried on that site. I don't know how accurate, but seems very useful.

I read somewhere that the SEs wheels are exactly the same as SRT wheels with the only difference being the painted areas between the ribs. Makes the SE wheel much easier to clean and overall better looking - IMHO.

Later,

Welcome Darryl, a local friend of mine has a SE and those wheels coupled with the Blaze Red makes for a striking package, especially in the sun light. If that information is correct my 2005 base Roadster is the rarest at .07%. It doesn't seem like that would be right. Less than 1%?

I have been comparing the percentages listed on that site to the latest "official production numbers" that were posted here on the forum.

If the percentages on that site are correct only 753.669 SRT-6 Roadsters were built in 2005, the "official" breakdown is 1252. Someones numbers don't add up

To me the rarest Crossfires are the SE roadsters and anything in Oyster Gold. I don't know which is the rarest, but you don't see many SE's or oyster gold cars.

Just my .02 worth.

I can't view the thumbnail - but the file fill download when clicked...
