2004 Limited with original Continentals.

The time has come to shop tires and I have been reading the posts about Goodyears and Michelins, all sound like good recommendations. I was very surprised how good the Continentals were on snow, even with about a 1/4 life left on the tread. Fortunately we don't get much snow. What I want is the quietest good looking tire I can get that does well in buckets of rain (Oregon) and windy road summer driving.
Do any of you guys know how Les Schwab (Oregon and Washington tire dealer) does in outfitting for this car? I have used their TOYOs on many vehicles and been very happy

Go to tirerack.com and they have a program to help you decide what tire to go with. They have a house brand Avon 500's that have good specks and owner testimonials. They carry all brands and they allow you to select what brands you wish to compare on their web site. i am going with their Avons when the time comes.

I really like the Michelin Pilots that came on the ca. So far I have 15K on them and they're only about half wore out. I really like the way they stick to the road in the curves. However, most of my driving is open road highways and interstates with very little town driving.

 

If you can afford the Michelin PS2's, get them. If not, the BFG KDW's are good too, and a bit cheaper ($1,200 vs. $900).

 

I bought Hankook's since mine is a lease. I have been extremely pleased with the performance for the price I paid -- less than any tire at Tirerack. Not to mention these tires are by far quieter than the original Conti's.

 

Hmmm, Topkat must live on the west side... We don't get that much here on the east side.

 

Personally, I have the BFG's and love them. They stick like glue compared to the Conti's, and they are unbelievable in the rain. On the downside, they are a little noisy. I say buy them, and you'll be grinning ear to ear... It's really hard to make them spin, unless you're driving really really hard... Best upgrade so far... And the ESP doesn't kick in all the time anymore because it doesn't have to...

They blow the original tires away...I could drift the car without trying with the originals...now you have to try to do it.

And I agree the traction control comes on a tenth of the time in comparison...plus the flame pattern rocks!

 

When the time comes for me to buy a new set of tires, I plan on keeping my old ones in the garage just in case I ever get a flat and the tire shop doesn't have our size in stock.
