Thumbs up Sherwood dash kit

Received and installed dash kit on Blaze red rdstr... Picked rosewood. Installation went well...if I did another it would go even better...always the case. As a matter of personal taste I did not like that all silver panel/console...just too much...this kit toned it down well. Each to his own. The people I showed it to thought it was factory...Nice kit.

If you like it, that's all that counts. For me, the "stick on" kit doesn't float my boat. No disrespect intended, but it looks cheap...

The kit while good quality still shows the silver, thats the problem for me. Nice job though

Strange that you would say that. I felt the same cheapness about the original painted silver dash...You should see this Sherwood dash in the sun...much less glare, much richer looking. What other options are there? I could not tolerate the original.

this is the alternative.

I would say that I am fortunate that I prefer wood grain to carbon fiber...The cost of your recommendation is significant...My Sherwood cost me $150 delivered and is of high quality. I have no reason to believe it will deteriorate or loosen.

First off, I appreciate the effort people have gone to, to publish pieces of their cars...

IMO, the Sherwood kit looks very 70's with the dark matt finish wood and straight black grain; not really my taste. I think if I wanted that I would have bought an old Ford Granada...

TBH not sure about the CF either, especially the red...

I like the idea of having it professionally applied so that the edges don't show, I might be interested if there was a polished burr walnut pattern available.

Burr walnut dashes have been available for (old style) minis for years to fill in the 'open plan' interior. From what I recall, the dashes themselves were probably MDF with the laminate on the facing side.

Edit:

Just did a quick search and found this:

http://www.wooddashexperts.com/customer/home.php

Shame they don't do a kit for the Crossfire...

what I linked to I did not intend for it to be read as a carbon fiber alternative instead of wood I was trying to emphasize the process of the carbon fiber inlayed on the stock plastics a similar thing can be done with wood by these same people...

There is no right or wrong here. If Arado likes his dash kit, then good for him. He is happy with his choice, and no one should criticize that. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes.

Arado, I didn't think I was going to like it. But in a grey, or black interior, I don't think it looks bad at all.
It just wouldn't work in my cedar/grey interior very well.
I guess it's a good thing I'm pleased with the "glossy" silver my '04 came with.

I had considered at one point to do something similar, but not wood (I've done some wood accents in some of my previous cars) this time. I have an 05 so I have the satin finish. I've come to really like it. All I've done is added a few chrome accents, I guess it comes down to what look you're going after.

You did a nice job.

Has anyone tried painting the edges of the silver with a black or dark grey?
That way the silver would not show.

There are many options available to get rid of the silver. Plenty of info available using the search function on the forum if you are looking more in depth. I really like the look of the Hydrographic application. I went DIY style and painted + converted all buttons to black like others. Check my results in this post
