Default Any Help?

Can anyone direct me to tire valve stem covers? Someone decided they needed mine more than I did.

I'd like the ones that came on the car, they matched the factory rims perfectly.

While I'm open to other suggestions, all I can find online are really bad.

Thanks.

Other than the dealer, I'm not sure where to find them.
I know that this has happened in the past to other cars on the forum. I think forum member 'intenseblu' said that the perps are usually kids taking them for their bicycles.

Good luck.

Yeah, I lost my caps too. A few weeks after I got the XF new.
My dealer asked too much for replacement (around $30, but not sure anymore). And after some idiots take them again. Since then I have regular plastic caps on. Curious, none of them have ever been stolen.

Do a search in the forum. In the past someone had metal caps on the valves that are locked. Anti-theft. But on the other hand I don't want to have stupid kids pulling on the valve just because they can't get it off.

purchase some of ebay... if you are really concerned about them being stolen purchase the locking ones... Here is a pair specifically for the crossfire as an example...

Folks,

You might want to replace those missing valve stems caps with the original caps from the dealer. I am not a fan of supporting the inflated Chrysler mark up but according to the service manual the cap does serve the critical function of of keeping moisture out of the valve stems. Supposedly there is an o-ring in the cap and seals the stem and prevents moisture from getting in an killing the TMP sensors. I am sure the the TPM sensors cost a lot more the $30, especially when I found out the round SRS badge on the door costs $50!

I've seen aluminum caps in many auto parts places. Even Wal-mart, I think. I don't see why these won't do the job, o-ring or not.

Some time ago, someone posted a link to this site and said they were using them without issue.

I paid $2.25 a piece for caps from the dealer. Just call the parts department.

Here was the excerpt from the Service manual about the valve stem cap:

On this vehicle, the valve stem is part of the tire pressure sensor/transmitter and is used as its antenna. If corrosion were to develop in the valve stem, it would affect the ability of the tire pressure sensor/transmitter to send the radio frequency signal to the TPM module.

The valve stem used on this vehicle is made from aluminum. Corrosion of aluminum will be caused by putting a dissimilar metal in contact with it. To prevent this type of corrosion from developing within the valve stem, the core of the valve stem is made of a compatible metal and is specially coated.

For this reason, a standard valve stem core must never be installed in this valve stem. If the core of the valve stem is removed when servicing the tire, the original valve stem core must be reinstalled. If the valve stem core needs to be replaced, it must be replaced with an original equipment valve stem core.

The valve stem caps used on this vehicle are specially designed for their use on the valve stem of the tire pressure sensor/transmitter. Each valve stem cap has an O-ring in the upper end of the valve stem cap to provide a positive seal at the end of the valve stem. This keeps dirt contamination and corrosion out of the valve stem caused by moisture. As listed earlier, these conditions can affect the ability of the tire pressure transmitter to send the radio frequency signal to the TPM module.

xlimited, I used to have the same problem until I got the spin-caps. They work great, have the rubber o-ring seal, and do not interfere with the TPS. Just a suggestion...you can check them out here:

Just wanted to give an update...I ordered new caps from the dealer. They were just over a dollar each.

I did a search and found the part number on this forum.

I have a couple extra doors with the SRS badge that are dark gray or black if some needs them. Just pm me.
