looking at a 2004 crossfire.
looking at a 2004 crossfire.
I went to test drive a 2004 crossfire. I only did so because the lease was up on my '03 mercedes benz E500. and I needed another car that was not going to cost me 60k to drive. When I drove it I automatically fell in love with it. Can anyone out there who have purchased a used crossfire, tell me if they have any bad experience with their cars if purchased used. Thank you.

There are a lot of people on the forum who bought used Crossfires.
Depending on the deal, you may be better off finding a lower mileage '04, or a 'new' '05 or '06 left on the lot somewhere.
Re: looking at a 2004 crossfire.
I bought a used 2004 last August with 35k on it. It now has 50k on it and at 48k the alternator went. I replaced it and it cost me $600 with labor. BTW the labor was only $100 dollars to give you and idea of the price parts can run you. Now with that being said I love the car to this day. Even though I still think the alternator should have lasted to 100,000 miles but maybe I got a bad one. These things happen. If the car is in good shape with low miles chances are you will have no to little issues with it. If anyone else on this forum has had any issues I haven't seen any major ones.
Good Luck.
Good Luck.

Check out Craig's List I saw a bunch on there with low miles and between $16-$18,000.

Re: looking at a 2004 crossfire.
Hi Virgil,
I know you asked about information of anyone that had bought a used 04'. I bought mine new and the only thing I have done is oil changes, and replaced 2 headlight bulbs.
I would think, if you could get the VIN# and take it to a Chrysler dealer, see what work has been preformed on the car. Then you could see if it's been trouble free.
Hope you get it, I love mine!

Re: looking at a 2004 crossfire.
I bought an '04 that had 44K miles on it. Bought it from a Chrysler dealer and purchased, for about $1,600, a 5 year / 50K mile MaxiCare Used Car warranty. This covers 5,004 parts and has a $100 deductible. Period and miles are from the date I purchased the car not original date of sale. So I'm covered for 5 years or to 94,000 miles. Only thing wrong to date was a glitch in the security system that they took care of for no charge and they installed a new radio to replace the original with the "washed out" display. This swap took literally 5 minutes and they did it in the service lane while I waited. I would go with a used one providing that it has some miles left on the tires. You are looking at a substantial expense for new tires.

I live in columbus ohio, and drive my srt every day. Never have had any problems even in the winter. Only two days last winter when we had two big snows. I don't have a garage so my car is outside and I couldn't find it for two days. The rain, no problem.

Re: looking at a 2004 crossfire.
I've been driving my '04 Limited Coupe for about a month now, and I truly love it. I'm the second owner, it had 15,450 when I bought it (now at about 16,500) and it is under warranty until 11/08. With my trade, I drove off the lot for about 18k. I commute every day in my Crossfire and so far I haven't had any mechanical problems. The only issue was with the haze on the headlight lenses, which I had replaced at no cost.

I've had my Crossfire only a couple weeks now. It so far, has been great in rain, dry, bumpy, and crooked (ESPECIALLY crooked) roads. The biggest issue I have is parking in the city with it. Many of our car parks have small spaces, and I don't want anyone whopping my doors! lol.

regardless... the crossfire is a great car... enjoy!
Re: looking at a 2004 crossfire.
I have learned so much about the crossfire thru this discussion forum as well as the culture that exists within this group. Thank you all very much. I will continue my search for the right crossfire. I actually went out on another test drive last night and almost pulled the trigger on it. However I am looking for a particular color. (black). So if anyone knows where I can find one in the Seattle/Tacoma Wa. area, please let me know.
Re: looking at a 2004 crossfire.
I bought my '04 used with 25K miles and love it. Only mechanical problem I've had is with an idiot light that keeps going on and off. Other than that, I couldn't be happier. The best part? When you drive down the street and see people in their cars (including Vettes and MBs) checking out your car.
