Can someone tell me the history of the Crossfire coupe
Can someone tell me the history of the Crossfire coupe
Hello:
I am new to this forum. The other day I stopped into a Chrysler dealership in NJ to check out the Chrysler suvs.
I notice several 2006 Crossfire coupes that were on sale. The salesman states that these are new, never titled cars that were just recently shipped to the states by Mercedes.
The MSRP on these vehicles is about $35,700 and they are selling them for 23K and change.
The are stick shift and some are black and some are red.
I am not to familiar with this vehicle. I am wondering if anyone can fill me as to the history of these automobiles. Why are there so many 2006 models that were never sold.
Is there a problem with these vehicles that I should be aware of.
Is Mercedes still producing them for 2007?
How is the price of 23K.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Can someone tell me the history of the Crossfire coupe
These cars are the lovechild of Mercedes and Chrysler. It's basically a chrysler on Mercedes parts. the 3.2 motor the tranny and most of the features are Mercedes. From what I have heard, they withheld some 06's and are releasing them slowly. If you recall, Mercedes recently sold Chrysler, so no "new" crossfires are being made. On a personal note, I have a lot of fun in my Wife's crossfire. For being a little car with 215 hp. It gets up and goes. My MB clk 430 had 300 hp and was just a bit faster...but I always need to fill up the tank when I take her car out. Get an SRT model if you can. You'll be amazed at what 330 hp can do in that little car.

they are manufactured in Osnabruck, Germany by Karmann. the engine, transmission, and many other parts of the car's skeleton are the same as in the first generation Mercedes SLK. the SLK 320=Crossfire Limited and the SLK 32 AMG Kompressor=SRT-6.

Here's a great link (courtesy of another forum member), the "Chrysler Crossfire Experience". http://firstbornmultimedia.com/websi.../crossfire.htm
